I’ve replaced the throttle position sensor multiple times in this Dodge Durango and I think I’ve found why they keep going bad!

This video is the reason I’m always on KZbin to try find ways to keep my vehicles out the shop I jus went and looked at the windshields sure enough no sealant. Thanks bro

I’m having all of these issues now. I went to a shop and paid over $500 to get it fixed and it rained 2 days later and it all started again. I got a new cowl and put a bead of fish tank silicone along the windshield and covered the tps and coil packs with thick aluminum foil that I folded over a few times to keep from coming off due to driving. It’s working ok so far.

The tps is sensitive to water. Probably not faulty out of the box. The rain water just messing everything up. I have 230,000 miles on my Durango. Runs good still.
@TonyCollumtheHOWTOHERO4 жыл бұрын
Exactly! I didn’t realize it was getting that much water.

I took apart my throttle body yesterday, I can see why they're sensitive to water ... it looks like a friggen cell phone inside, just jammed with electronics and a motor and lots of exposed electronic contact points. Gone are the days of a simple cable throttle.

Thank you for your video, sir. My Durango is slow at acceleration and then it takes off like a bat out of hell when you give it gas. It also revs to high RPM’s when throttled in park. Does that sound like the same sensor issue? I subbed in hopes for a quick response as I’m literally trying to fix it today.

I hope you figured out what was wrong with your Durango, because mine is doing the exact same thing as yours and I don't know what the f*** is wrong. I hope you see my message and reply ASAP thank you.

Yes this could be a bad tps sensor.

I wonder if it could be the same situation with 2007 ram 1500 5.7 hemi? I bought it in March and it has acted up twice in hard rains.

Honestly, no…but I’m thinking I would have been better off buying an OEM part. The TPS sensors from the parts stores gave me fits.
@anthonygleicher29303 жыл бұрын
Once you get a TPS code, you may want to check air filter, first a plastic bag, or we had a Xmas mouse, he had made a blanket out of hood fibers, and a Xmas stocking. He also had accumulated 5lbs of dog food. Then twigs and stones for a walk to protect his stash true story
@TonyCollumtheHOWTOHERO3 жыл бұрын
Wow, that is crazy. I’ve had the air filter box off so many times and never see any kind of impediment like this, but I’ll keep my eyes open for sure

So with the window leak why not just lift up lip and run a bead of silicone or roof repair tar from a caulk tube?
@TonyCollumtheHOWTOHERO3 жыл бұрын
I did that too. First I used a rubber hose with a slit cut on one side to fill the gap then I used exterior black silicone. Works for a time but eventually still pulls away (the cowl continues to bow and flex)

A flex seal to my windshield down. The water that is dripping onto the manifold isn't exactly coming from under the windshield the majority of the water comes from the top of the windshield actually goes through the windshield wiper hold it builds up right there and it's just a puddle and it just drips down it's going through the windshield wiper hold is also going under but the main piece where it's going through and dripping onto the TPS in the top part of the manifold like a f****** canal is coming through
@TonyCollumtheHOWTOHERO Жыл бұрын
Your situation is possible too. I did the water tests using a garden hose. Either way, it’s a bad situation
@jarretmoore3858 Жыл бұрын
Does that cause your car to stall out

You can get a type of silicone for fish tanks that is better than regular silicone you get in a tube from the hardware store.

You mean for sealing the cowl, right. Great advice.
