Listening to Thomas talk about the "dancing valves" that make the sound awesome just made me think of how many thousands it will cost when one goes wrong. What's so unbelievable about that! Ferrari 458 special got 605 hp out of 4.5 v8 10 years ago! What should be so great about the engine please. Test it against the old 458 special. What is really good is the price, the look from the outside and the sound is also good. The steering wheel is a disaster when driving fast, when you grab it you reach into nothing. The interior is a matter of taste. I prefer to drive my old AMG SL 63 V8 best 6.2v8 sound. Thanks for testing.

Was shopping for vehicles last days off. (Yes vehicles…me, wife and daughter.). Sales manager was trying to educate me on the new realities of the automotive business…no inventory to maintain and vehicles pre-purchased before delivery and in one case a year long wait. I laughed at him and told him that I was patient…eventually a manufacturer would have cars on the lot that I could see-touch-smell-drive and buy and that is the one I would purchase because they have it wrong…I don’t want to purchase a vehicle with my money…they want to purchase my money with a vehicle and I’m not in a rush to sell my money. Which brings me to the new Corvette and dealership markup. When the new one first came out I was going to order one but I couldn’t find a dealer that would sell one for sticker price so being the cantankerous old curmudgeon that I am (and being very adverse to getting ripped off) I assured the salesman that not only wouldn’t I buy a marked up Corvette from his dealership but my wife’s next SUV and my next new truck would also not be a GM product because of their greed. Which is the same thing I told the Mazda dealer in the eighties (many new vehicles ago) when they tried to do the same thing with the Miata and I haven’t looked at a Mazda since.

Most people don’t go for Flat Plane Cranks because of the complexity of them which is why the Voodoo 5.2 is discontinued. Not only that but most of your power as stated in the video is all the way up high. 670HP @ 8,400 RPM is not practical for a street car period.

Again, a very detailed... no, I must correct that -- another detail rich review by you guys. Most excellent job in analyzing with a level head such an emotions' stirring sport automobile. Just one note, to put things in perspective: you mentioned, almost with a disappointment tone, that the torque is not that impressive at 460 lbs/ft, yet my 2010 CAMARO SS only throws out about 420 lbs/ft from its LS3 engine, however I can easily keep up with, and then leave behind many different high performance sports cars (and pretend-sports-crossovers), even several years newer, without intently putting the engine and transmission in its best output range... that is, without actually trying hard. And this comes from a muscle car that weights exactly 4000 lbs. with me on board and a full tank of fuel. I'll bet that in a much, much lighter platform, such as the Z06, which revs even faster and easier to facilitate putting and keeping the engine in its hp/tq sweetspot, 460lbs/ft must feel like you're strapped to a Saturn V going right at Max Q. I'm sure that I, and most folks, will not feel any disappointment whatsoever driving that fine Chevy stallion. Once more, kudos to you for an informative and entertaining review!

It isn’t “much much lighter”. It is close to the weight of your Camaro.
@TheFlashSpeedforce2 жыл бұрын
@@flyjbaker Really?? I assumed it would be much lighter. I also own a 4th Gen F-Body, with the 4L60E transmission (much quicker, but also heavier than the Tremec manual) and that one weights about 3,750lbs. I figured that, despite the added weight of the several heath exchangers and their fluids, being a two seater with extensive use of alloys and smaller displacement engine, the Z06 would be between 3,550 and 3,650. Guess I didn't factored in that all that advanced tech specific to the Z06 exacts a price in mass as much as it does in currency. Thanks for the heads up!
@flyjbaker2 жыл бұрын
@@TheFlashSpeedforce yep. Comes in right around 3700. Maybe a smidge under….3670. It is a big car with big wheels and tires and not much to really shave off any weight. I wish GM would get rid of the 2 golf bag philosophy and shrink the car a little.
