Awesome , these are super cool Mike . I love building models , especially when I was a kid . I'm 73 years young and growing up I love nice cars and trucks and fixing them up . I love detailing them to and I was a detailing manager for a car dealership and when we had new car shows I could make them shine and I have won several awards . Keep them videos coming my friend . On the Richie Evans car HOW do you get the detail so fine as to highlight each "bore" of the 4 barrel carb ? I'm learning that the details "make" the model. I've used washes,panel line accent etc. trying to get the details more realistic. But the builder (Mr. Garrett) imo,judging from this vid,is a real master. There's texture,shading,anodized,cast finishes etc. Not everything is supposed to look "painted." Excellent

I started my car crazy life by building models. When my brothers were playing sports in school, I was building model cars, or should I say model car. I never had more than one model built because I would use parts from all of them to build just one, Then I would study the look I created for a few days or weeks until I got another idea for a build from seeing one at the drags or on the street. Back in the 60s we did not have the stuff they have available today. I would save enough money to buy a model just for the cool parts. Only the old guys would know this but back in the 60s our 7-11 store sold model cars. The owner of our 7-11 store put up a little 3x5 index card by the models that said he was having a model car contest. He brought in a 4ft wide by maybe 5ft high display case to display all the entries. After seeing that he was having a model car contest I went to work on my entry. You see my uncles were totally into drag racing and I would go to the drags with them and study all the cars and wonder what my car would be when I grew up. My entry to the contest was ...a 1964 AWB (altered wheelbase) ford Galaxy. I threw every race part I could into that build just to have everyone laugh at how funny it looked with the altered wheelbase (it's a funny car). I assumed everyone knew what AWB cars were because drag cars were all I knew. Fast forward to when we met at the TRI-5 nationals at Beech Bend in Bowling Green and there I was with my real Blown 57 chevy nostalgic gasser. It represented all the influences from my early days of model car building down to the black and white rear wheels, I've owned my 57 chevy for almost 50 years and for that momentous occasion this year I am offering out my last rendition of this car. You can follow that build on my channel. If I knew more about what you were into, I would have talked your ear off about it, but I could tell you were working. Go back to your TRI-5 video and you will see my 57 in it. BTW.: Building these models take a lot more skill than building the real thing, and cheaper too .lol

What glue do you use to keep these models together because I use the glue that everybody used to glue and it seems like after a year everything you got to reglue again and it's a pain in the ass is there a glue that you use that special that keeps these models together
@THROTTLEPOWER5 ай бұрын
Tamiya extra thin, Testors or Faller and sometimes Super Glue..... If your glueing on chrome parts make sure to sand/scrape off the chrome part that will be glued Frank, same with painted parts.
