@realMaverickBuckley2 жыл бұрын
Yup and I think some of these pieces about them where the headline is £20,000 model car!! Does them a disservice. That's for a huge 1/8 scale , 3 foot long and very rare models. If you want an equally we'll made Amalgam but something you can compare more easily to mid level quality models like Minichamps , say a 1:18 F40 or a 1:18 Formula 1 car, you're looking at around £600. I spent £400 on a rare MiniChamps Audi 90 IMSA GTO and as detailed as that is (you can change the AN fittings on the breather on the cam cover and read the Stack Dash speedo numbers, the fire extinguisher certification sticker) I know Amalgam cars are of much higher quality. So £400 to £600. Not crazy really. Probably 2% or less of what they do is above £20k. The fact its a small English company using local craftsmen as opposed to making everything in China like Minichamps makes it even more special in an age where 85% of the things in our daily lives from the Gearknob on your Audi to the DHS sofas in your living room is made in China.

I paid £370 for it and sold it on after a couple of years for £1200. Amalgam are a little on the pricey side but if you have the money then go for it. For those complaining about the price, like he explained, it has to do with the market. If they prep everything to make a certain model and there is only 1 that will be sold, the entire project cost obviously has to be paid for by that single buyer. If there are 100 buyers, it will be much cheaper. etc. If you order 100.000+ of the same model, you will likely be able to get them for like $500 per model or cheaper. Point is, there isn't a big enough market, mainly due to competition. Same goes for everything. If all car manufacturers stop making cars except BMW, Audi, Mercedes and they stick to 1 certain model for 5+ years, we would be able to buy those cars for $5000 or less brand new and those companies would still get rich AF.

Yeah they're great and all but I've seen people on KZbin make better looking models out of revell models and scrap pieces and time. As an example, Why are the rivets twice the scale of the rest of the car? I think it's a company making a fairly inexpensive venture and sticking 500% worth of profit on the tag. I mean even the badges on the speedtail look awful man

I build rc cars so I can drive my models. I certainly can appreciate the craftsmanship on these models, though.

If you think these models are expensive then that's because you are not their target audience, an owner of an F40 will have no problems spending 5 digits for a model of their car because they can afford to. A Senna owner will buy one to display along side their 7 digit car they use 6 times a year. For a model of that level of detail it is not expensive in the slightest. I think they are utterly brilliant and would have a room full of them if I could. Little works of art.

The artistry is amazing. I build scale models with quite a bit of detail, much of which i have to scratch build myself but this is a whole other world of model making. If i was to have one made it would be of my 1988 pontiac fiero gt.

For such craftmanship I have no doubt on them if they want to recreate a real classic car.

I have an amalgam 1/18th George Russell merc, and I love it. It sits on my desk, so I can look at it every day. If I could have one 1/8th from amalgam, it would be a Shelby Daytona coupe, my all time favorite car.

A 2020 Aston Martin V8 Vantage AMR would be the model I’d choose

The most expensive car model I have is the limited production of James Bond DB5 by Danbury mint. Highly detailed, every gadget works, car phone, center console an so on and Yes! Ejecto seat functions as well.

So they have a lackey out the back making these things for £5/hour, is that what you're telling me? £20,000 for 4,000 hours work... Whatever the case, these are absolutely stunning pieces and great to see someone working in precisely the right field for them - love the passion!

Money no object. Think I'd have to go for maybe 1 of 3. Lamborghini countach, Lamborghini Miura or a Vector M12. Then again maybe a Ferrari Daytona. Sentimental wise it be a Audi b2 80 quattro sport.

I would LOVE to have an entire room or basement decorated with a slot car track in the middle, a massive TV to watch Formula 1 and GT races, and some MASSIVE dustproof LED lit display units full of those 1/8 scale formula one cars from Amalgam (all historically relevant models, at least to me)... let me dream away

Hope you achieve it, I'm actually close to doing it in 1/18 scale!

I'm currently building the Gone In 60 Seconds Eleanor Shelby GT500 and recently started building KITT from Knight Rider both in 1:8 scale, it's an awesome hobby!

as someone collecting 1/64, 1/43, 1/24 scale models this video is such eye candy for me. Also I'd want their scale model of a 250 GTO

I’d want an Aston Martin DB4 in silver, but if given the choice I’d definitely go with the original spitfire or P-51 Mustang, probably a Yak-3, and 100% a F4U Corsair, those aircraft are absolute masterful beauties.

I think the F40 is the best car to be the fully detailed model. This car has unique attributes such as the engine cover and doors with carbon fiber seals. The car that I could keep always in an open position to see all that model maker craftsmanship together with incredible Ferrari engineering. Modern sports cars look like they all has done from one used brick of soap, far away from the mechanical beauty of old school le man cars, f1's or just the simple "chrome bumper" MG B ))
