Thanks for the recommendation, I ended up doing the same thing for making my own numbers out of magnetic vent covers and using plastidip a couple months ago. Did you end up having any issues with the edges of the platidipped number/letter magnets curling? After two events it started to curl slightly, even when stored flat. It was just enough for air to grab it and the magnets started to fling off at 25mph. The events I use them in sees top speeds around 75-80mph depending on the configuration.
