Same. I don't even experience ASMR, but it's still so relaxing when I get a migraine. And as an added bonus, I'm also pretty sure I'm now an expert in what NOT to do if I ever decide to restore precious art.😅

I can picture the artist looking over your shoulder as you work on his piece. I imagine him thinking: 1) what the hell happened to his work. How did it get that bad. 2) being fascinated with the modern chemicals and equipment you are using to repair it 3) absolutely thrilled that you restored his work as he meant it to be seen.

Honestly, your meticulous nature and the little collections of glue, cloth, etc. remind me of my dad and his Piano business. He always saved everything and tried not to waste anything. It kinda brings me back to watching my dad work on piano parts in our basement.

Sitting outside at midnight. It's quiet as, in the country. Under my new patio in among the potted palms, with soft fairy lights twinkling. Im watching julien restore a little painting. Only the tapping of Julien's tacs going in echoes around the neighbourhood. Lovely Julien. Ta mate.

The eruption of Krakatoa in 1883 reddened the sky across the world for months. Many paintings around this time have red clouds in the sky, the scream being the most famous. I don't know the date this painting was produced but the artist was definitely active around this time.

If it is possible for someone to be “intensely” gentle while restoring a painting, well, Julian is. I marvel at how painstaking he is and how unconcerned he is about the time it takes. And then when you see the vast number of paintings that are residing in his storeroom, waiting for the same treatment, I am overwhelmed! I am never happier when I see a new Julian vlog! Just sayin’.
