The member that did the flip wasn't Kai it was an old member(Tao), remember that Exo use to consist of 12/Chinese and Korean members. Exo-K Members: D.O, Suho, Kai, Sehun, Chanyeol, Baekhyun = 6 members Exo-M Members: Kris, Xiumin, Chen, Lay, Luhan, Tao = 6 members 3 Chinese members left the group: Kris, Luhan, and Tao. Lay is the only full Chinese member left in the group, even though Xiumin and Chen were part of Exo-M; they are not Chinese they are Korean. Some background information on EXO: The concept of EXO when they doubted is that they were beings from another world called Exo Planet. There were 12 members that each had their own super powers, and they were split into two subunits that each had 6 members. Exo-K was the Korean sub unit, with all Korean members and they sang the songs in Korean and promoted in Korea. Exo-M was the Chinese sub unit. They would sing the same songs except they sang it in Mandarin (the M in Exo-M stands for Mandarin which is a Chinese dialect) and they would promote in China. This was a smart idea on SM Entertainment's part because it allowed for the group to expand in the Chinese market and they became extremely popular and made a lot of money. While the Chinese sub unit had 6 members just like the Korean sub unit, only 4 out of the 6 members in the Chinese unit were actually Chinese. The other 2 members were Korean, but still sang in Chinese and promoted in the Chinese unit. Exo-K Members: Suho, Baekhyun, Kai, Chanyeol, D.O., and Sehun Exo-M Members: Kris, Lay, Luhan, Tao, Xiumin, and Chen. In many of their music videos you, especially early ones, you can see references to their Exo Planet back story and the use of their super powers. Exo no longer has 12 members though. 3 of the Chinese members left (for different reasons such as mistreatment from SM entertainment) so now there is only 1 Chinese member left and only 9 members in total. Because most of the Chinese members are gone, they stopped splitting into Exo-M and Exo-K.

SM been planning exo whole mysterious and "powers" vibe since 2011 ( one year before debut but could be more idk) there are some theory videos if you want to understand. but basically all members each have different power and they come from exo planet and are trying to fight the "red force" and save people on earth ? there is two worlds and i think time travel happens or something happens whenever there is an eclipse till this day exo has kept up with their powers in most of their mvs including kokobop and power and in their concert vcr's ( clips/videos in between concert breaks) . its more obvious in the older videos though.

The theory is that EXO members are from exo-planets and have powers. Exo-m and Exo-k had different but complimentary powers. The animation at the beginning explained their origins and that they have powers. Every now and then their powers still pop up, even in Ko Ko Bop.

EXO had the most original debut concept. This MAMA debut was explaining their origin of being aliens from outer space protecting the tree of life. Each member's symbols has a counterpart power. Please listen to the intro again in your own time. And if you watch the MVs continuously in chronological order, especially during Lucky One they've been using their powers all along. MAMA during the Joseon period in Korea means Jeonha/Mama (전하/마마) - Your Majesty/Royal Highness. I highly suggest to watch the MVs in chronological release.

Yasss! The Chinese version of this MV is my favourite but the Korean version is great too! The story of the MV is about how EXO, made of 12 members (at the time), would have 6 members promote in Korea and 6 members promote in China. They really set the bar high for debuts!

“To truly understand EXO you need to understand that EXO debuted in 2012 -- So "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV. It is how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the groups concept. Each of the members has a super power that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one if not all of them using their powers. Exo, as in exoskeleton, means "outer," so as a member of EXO they are outside the ordinary. The groups concept comes from the real term exoplanet, which is a term that is used for a planet that is outside our solar system, so their name was chosen to represent the fact that they are stars that are "out of this world" when it comes to their talents. Now you also need to know that in the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. (So the story in the beginning is explaining the groups legend and why they are split into two groups and what they have been sent to Earth to do.) So to really understand their full origin story you have to watch both the K and the M version of "MAMA," not just the K version, because even though both the K and M versions of "Mama" feature all 12 of the members, the K version focuses on the K members and their powers and the M version focuses on the M members and their powers. Plus, this is a good opportunity for you to hear what the song sounds like in both Mandarin and Korean. (I encourage you to watch EXO-M's version of "MAMA" even if you don't react to it and really listen to the introduction story at the beginning. Now that you know a little more about what it is trying to tell you, you will probably start to understand more of why EXO does the things they do and what makes them so special.) However, since then 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group (short answer to focus on their solo work back in China) but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 of the members. Kris and Luhan left in 2014 and Tao left in 2015.) However, now, because they no longer have enough Chinese members they no longer do separate promotions where the group is split up, but they still produce all their songs in both Korean and Mandarin they just now promote all as one big group EXO with 9 members. Their fandom name is EXO-L because L falls right between K and M and I like to think it stands for Love. 😍 In Korean MAMA is a term they use to address a leader or King or queen. Its a term of reverence and respect. It's similar to saying "Your majesty." If you watch very many historical Korean dramas you will hear the characters call the royal family and especially the head of the royal family or leader "Mama." So in this song they are speaking to the leader or deity who sent them to Earth, essentially asking, "Now that I'm here, Your Majesty what should I do? How do I fulfill what you have sent me to do? etc." To help you pinpoint the powers being used in their MVs here is a list of the members and what their special power is. The members powers are: EXO-K Suho : water (Fun fact: did you know that Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO,? That's why as the leader of EXO, Kim Jun Myeo's stage name is Suho) Baekhyun : Light Chanyeol : fire D.O : earth (dirt) which gives him strength Kai : teleportation Sehun : Wind EXO-M Xiumin : snow/ice (frost) Lay : healing Chen : thunder/lightning/electricity (As you can see, Xiumin and Chen were given stage names that sounded more Chinese so they would fit in better in EXO-M) The Chinese members that are no longer part of the group: Kris: Flight (He was the leader of EXO-M when they used to promote as two separate groups.) Oh yes, Exo -m the mandarin version shows the other 6 members that wasn’t in the korean one. Also the ones that relate to mama is luckyone and power. Exo makes their comeback into a story. Their comebacks are connected and has something to relate to each other. Also, each Exo members has powers, that’s why u see them having water, fire, wind , etc. Exo started of with 12 members but 3 left just in case u don’t know.

EXO has this "mysterious concept" And if you know the order of mvs and it's theories it'll feel like you just watched a movie hahahhsshs i swear, exo has a great story line. Pathcodes, powers, eclipse etc. I suggest you watch exo exordium vcr intro. Sometime sm release an exo mv or something the same day that eclipse will occur so yeah shshhs sm planned this for a long time.

dezzy, i really do suggest reacting the the exo-m version of mama. i only suggest it because it tells the FULL story of whats going on in both videos. it's hard to watch one version and understand where they started without watching the other.
