How do you take your mug off the wheel after using the wire? My works always end up being slightly crocked after this so I was hoping you got a nice trick for it?
@melissasierra4134 жыл бұрын
Maybe, before taking off your piece from the wheel put water around your piece and then wire it off. So that way water goes in between and you could slide it off, carefully.

Hi, I was wondering where do I get a wheel like yours???
@KaiCeramicsOfficial7 жыл бұрын
mihaela m My wheel is an Amaco Brent wheel. This particular model is very old, but Brent has a handful of other models. Brand new wheels can be expensive, but check your local craigslist or even schools that may be trying to get rid of their older wheels. My college was selling a handful for super cheap, which is how I got mine.

@TheSuperflous7 жыл бұрын
Why so much clay? Do you need to use more porcelain when making things than with stoneware? Usually a mug is about 14 oz of stoneware
@KaiCeramicsOfficial7 жыл бұрын
Chris MacKethan It all depends on your style and size of the mug, really.

Great video and follow up video but I do think you should add a warning for beginners, the metal rib has very sharp edges so be careful using them on the wheel I had it catch on the clay one time and it gashed my finger open pretty deep.

Clay shrinks over the entire process. So, yes! It is rather large before the firing processes. My porcelain shrinks about 14% just from the firing. The clay will also shrink slightly as it dries before the firing. All things I need to consider when making!

The products you make are amazing. I love watching what you do, but the music makes it hard to take you serious. The music makes what you do seem kind of like a joke like a crapy life hacks video or something but it's not. what you do is amazing and beautiful and you should find something that matches the tone of your work not just some goofy free to use song on the KZbin playlist
