It's not broken actually. Roman pilum is shield breaker historically. Mike Loades demonstrated how pilum were used against charging infantries. You can learn more from Tod's Workshop video.

One small tip: Create separate lines of troops, that way only one gets entrenched in melee and the other can continue slaughtering. Bonus if you angle them in a slight V so they can hit the backs of the troops engaging the other line

i always thought throwing weapons were mid until i tried them with a two handed axe in a sort of berserker build and they are so much fun

Something interesting I notice is that the innacuracy of throwing is actually really useful. Whereas archers/crossbowmen tend to hit their target that means they just hit shields. The javelin throwers however miss, hitting people beind the shield-bearers and horses rather than their rider

I'm not sure about javelins but throwing axes with maxed throwing skills does anywhere from 700-1100 damage to the front gates on castles. Can get through them before your battering ram makes it halfway. Also more ways to max, using max horse skill and others. Charging full speed on horse at gate and throwing axe will increase speed of axe therefor damage it does.

Javelins are absolutely broken off of horseback, and are more efficient than bows and crossbows early game for lower skill. Nice vid, as always.

Since last patch and the improvement of throw AI when commanding to advance, I tried this with wildlings and it's brutal. I am trying the same now with Aserai infantry plus the Faris and it also works wonders.

How about a pike wall playthrough? It is challenging at first, until you can get enough of your own pike recruits. Challenging with base Bannerlord, but an absolute cakewalk with RBM (Realistic Battle Mod).

Thanks, now i am also doing my own javelin challenge. Using vanilla, only recruit non elite throwing units. Almost Battanian Wilding exclusive but in the event to replace casualty, i can only recruit or upgrade shield infantries.

I think there is a way you can get to javelins‘s arm when you’re starting your Story press as a skirmish because it gives you javelin bags which means eight and a Sword

this was on 1.2.1 but mlw is not updated to 1.2.1, had to do my own fix which caused some problems. Play it on 1.1.5 or wait until it gets updated to 1.2.1.

You can get around the vanilla no throwing recruits by picking up rock throwing bandits or looters. They technically throw not shoot.

but the problem would still be that they dedicated melee weapons. The units i created only had javelins. Sometimes they would switch the jav mode to melee mode but its completely garbage, but still.

Yeah, i was actually obsessed with javelins. I mean really i looked up everything on the internet. But nothing quite scratched the itche like bannerlord. Even chivalry 2 didnt compare. I threw so many javelins, eventually through peoples shields. And to see then fly was incredible. Then... they removed the insane force on ragdolls. And it snapped me out of it. Im sure i could find a mod to make it like the good ole days but im into spears now.

try a tavern mercenary troops only challenge then try a clan mercenary troops only (you would either start with some troops and attack a clan take prisoners and recruit or become mercenary by yourself follow around a mercenary party until they get in a fight join and enough kills to get a good amount of prisoner.

How did you get my little warband to work?

You create your custom troops with my little warband on 1.1.5, click the export button which exports the custom troops in the modules folders as a new folder. Then you update Bannerlord to the new beta version & select my little warband module WITH the new module that was generated when you clicked export. Make a new save game, go to my little warband settings and click import. Then save the game, relaunch it without the module that was generated before (but still select my little warband), and then it works. But you can not edit your troops anymore in any way, & your troops do not have ANY skills, so all of their skills are at 0. So they are super slow. I had to do work arounds that are not worth the effort for a regular playthrough. I would suggest you wait until it gets properly updated to the new beta version.

Sometimes enemies on horses ragdolls like that if you kill them with throwing weapons. I've even seen a few horses ragdoll like a dozen meters in the air a couple of times, think I recorded it too, might be in the full battles video.

I did the ones that made Gormal's throwing better and picked the better captain perks on my brother since he had perks in one handed, two handed and polearm that gormal didn't.

I wouldn't let the companions in the smaller range of their javs, and would use the split into two formations tactic to flank them to get around their shields. Depending on how many arrows would hit their shields instead of them, I think the companions might win, especially as towards the end of companion playthroughs I had around 50 companions & family which all had two stacks of arrows which totals to 3200 arrows without even adding the extra ones from perks.
