Our crappie bed from very early May through mid-May. I'm a good month away from any real crappie action. Sometimes in mid-April, I can find them in very shallow man-made channels just off of the main lake. Those will heat up to the low 50s while the main lake is still low 40s.

OMG that food looked delicous, and I don't even eat seafood. We have a big pond in our backyard that I fish in. It covers about 2 acres. Caught a 6.5lb bass (PB), 15lb catfish, and about a 15-inch crappie. Lots of bream and bluegill, but I rarely fish for those. However, when I crappie fish I always seem to catch bass. The only reason I caught the crappie is by luck because I was bass fishing. There is really no structure, just open water. My brother always talks about how flaky the skin is and how good they are to eat. I wanna try one now. Any tips on catching crappie in my pond??? Thanks.
