I saw a Bill Van Gilder video where he drops a bag of clay from waist high, repeat for all sides and the clay will become softer. Many manufacturers add a polymer that absorbs water and will release the water when dropped. Sounds crazy I know, but it’s the single best tip I ever have seen.

Thanks, I'd forgotten about that tip. I saw it years ago but it never worked on the clays I was using at the time, it will be interesting to see if it works on the new ones
