Thrown rod and hole in the engine block, HONDA RUNS!

Engine running with a thrown rod. rod #3 flew out of the front of the engine block below the exhaust Manifold. F23a1 VTEC Honda engine still running! Drove it home on fire but still going! This engine was run out of oil by the previous owner. I filled it up with oil and wanted to see how long it would run! It drive about 2 miles before shooting the rod out and catching on fire. Put the fire out and the car is still running.....

My moms friend brought one of those to me to fix a massive oil leak. It ran out of oil twice, locked up both times, and ran fine again after cooling down. I didn’t find and major metal in the pan and there was no bearing looseness😮 Great engine!

Yea had a 350 small block that did the same thing. It went from a v8 to a v5 still running

This same thing happened to my v6 3.8l in my pontiac last night. Aparently it blew about 7:10pm. Was able to get it running and it drove for almost another half hr till i took my dads advice to pull over and get a tow. Itll run for a bit and then stall now. 6k for a new engine.
