I would put Brian Oldfield as my #1. He shattered the world record. First man over 73, 74, and 75 feet. He paved the way for track and field athletes to get payed our right and get sponsored. He revolutionized the Spin. And set an American record at 39 years old. I believe he is also the only 40+ 70footer ever. And of course his foul throws are legendary.

Randy Matson dominated in the 1960s - years ahead of his time (21.78m in 1967!) Not even on the list - puzzled. He had an Olympic gold and silver and world records; first man to break 70ft.
@frankyancy13473 жыл бұрын
Exactly, I saw Randy in 1966 at Fresno, I was up close on the field just a few feet from the ring. His standing throws 65 easily, Obriens eyes were like pie plates. 6.7 tall @ 260, beautiful physically, didn't have to pump iron like Dallas Long, or beef up to 325 lbs like these current guys, rather he was a natural. If he had lifted like Long and bulked up........he'd have thrown over 24m easy. He out classed em all til George Woods and others began steroids, and looking like over weight gorillas. So the list is bogus. In 1966 he was just 2 or 3 years out of high school.......not these 6 "Best".

What I saw broke my spirit, knowing I did not have IT....oh I could have worked HARD and gotten to 60, but so what....he was THE BEST EVER. Thx for the comment, how did you do?

Man, this list is hard to make but leaving off Crouser hurts, 1 Olympic Gold, 5 top 2 finishes in U.S Outdoor and Indoor Championships, a World Championship silver medal, a 22.90 PR, arguably the best high school/college career we have ever seen from a thrower. Now he has the indoor world record, and he has thrown over the 22-meter mark more than anyone else in history. All 6 of these guys are legends but surely, Crouser was in the consideration at some point.
