It's the end of Dec 2017. I was looking for lights, watched a ton of KZbin reviews. This channel helped me a lot. Thanks for all the great flashlight reviews especially the Olights and ThruNites. I ended up buying total of 8 Olight's because of Olisghts great Black Friday & Christmas flash sales, saved average of 45%. I replaced all my handhelds and weapon lights with Olights. But I remembered your reviews of ThruNite in general. When I saw ThruNite offering 20% off on their site I came back here and watched your review again, then i bought a ThruNite TC12 V2. So your channel was a big influence, thanks for all the information.

I really like the detailed comparisons between the similar lights like that. I also appreciate the actual run time test you did. I wish other KZbin channels would be as thorough in their reviews as you are. Great video.

+Robert Long thanks Robert. these are just tests I do so I figured I would share. there are so many trolls out there that say you need fancy equipment. at the end of the day I have tested so many lights I can see the differences right away and I use them so don't really care what anyone else says ;) thanks for the comment.

Went back to watch this again.... This was a great review, I msgd you awhile ago saying my new Fenix UC 35 had that battery cover issue, they did not respond to any of my msgs so back it went. Hours of research later and it looks like you and Tanner sealed it for me..., I had nearly decided on this light myself or the TN 12 - 2016, but like you, wanted the charging capability in the phone. Have been debating for nearly 2 weeks daily on this issue. Thanks for a thorough review in all aspects that matter. Good stuff. I honestly could not justify any Nitecores and I wanted to -- esp. since they have so many models with a red light I would find useful. Thx again. I can count on you. Pen and paper are always out taking my notes for many reviews, this was one of them.

I picked one of these up recently myself. This was the only light I could find that wouldn't cycle back from "turbo" to a lower setting after a few minutes--although the company does issue a warning not to use turbo for more than ten minutes. Thrunite updated this light to the "V2" in the interim between my order and the order being shipped, so I received the updated version. Regardless of whether or not the claimed output of 1100 lumens is actual (I would bet it's absolutely is), the light was unexpectedly bright, and is can actually be a bit excessive for my needs. Conversely, the lowest setting makes for a great reading light. Great range of functionality, and very well worth the money. But I still want to buy an X7 Marauder from Olight... I'd pay $300 just for the experience of turning on the sun with something the size of a soda can. :P

I just bought this light and used your Amazon link. Great video. I also looked at one of the one's you compared it to and like this one better. I would like to see it made with the sharp points on the lens cap as I have seen with other tactical lights that can be used as a personal protection feature. I didn't even know USB lites were even available until I saw this video. Thanks for the great work.

8:42 Look at the LED's CRI (color rendering index) in ThruNite. Because it has more light spectrum. Some of LEDs may has more lumen but their light is extremely cold white and colors looks same. Color rendering also important as much as light amount. One another thing I loved in ThruNite, it's beam is soft, not too much focused. I mean this is pocket flashlight, not beacon or laser pointer. it doesn't matter how much far light goes, important thing is good illimunation around area that you are spotting, it can illuminate far and also around it

I really like the aesthetic of the mode button, the neutral beam colour, the tail stand, the fire fly mode and the standard micro USB port. But, I'm not sold because I would like it with the smaller tube diameter and, more powerful, throwing beam of the EAGTAC. I would also like it there was something like a collar that screws down over the USB port to seal it, I don't like the exposed rubber for the wear and tear of EDC pocket carry. Also, I would like a pocket clip that can be moved between 2 positions on the tube to also allow for deep pocket carry, or at least a 2nd longer clip included that attaches to the same point but allows deeper carry. Lastly I would like a more aggressive striking bezel, but nothing that screams "weapon".

Also, needs low frequency emergency beacon and perhaps SOS signal.
@livingsurvival
@livingsurvival 9 жыл бұрын
+ce4130 Nitecore has the best SOS/Beacon/Strobe IMO and they make a few models with screw down USB and models with deeper carry pocket clip. I really like the MH20 because of the deep carry and it has a red light. Standard rubber USB cover though.

My TN12 2016 model stopped working after 4 weeks of every night use at work, but for the price I thought I would give one a try, went back to a 6 year old Surefire which still works perfectly. Never take a product review seriously unless the person has used the said product for an extended period of time. Their is a reason why most police and the military use Surefire flash lights.

this one seems like the best one out there. I'm certainly going to buy this one. I prefer the USB port on the flashlight which is I doubt I will buy the olight sr30 II. so I want to combo this one with an oligiht s1 and the lumintop that you like a lot for my around the house use. I don't like that you have to turn it on to charge but that's small and I don't like the indicator spread being so low. green should have been maybe 50 percent and above. great video!!

Did Thrunite fix the switch issue with this model? I have a TN12 that I love, but the switch is garbage. I have to take it apart every month to clean the contacts and tighten the cap. Then it works for a while and stops again when I need it the most. It is a love hate thing with my TN12. I have an Olight SR30R that I like a little better and the light is super reliable. I like this light that you are reviewing, but I am leery of buying a Thrunite product now. I also have a Nitecore TM26 4000 that I love. The TM26 never leaves my side. I take it to work with me and use it. I like Nitecore lights as well. I wish that Thrunite would improve the switch, because other than that it is a nice light.

I think 2.6 hours are written mistakely for 1000 lumen turbo mode. It might be 1.6 hours instead of 2.6. 1 hour and 45 minutes test result prove that. Because it is impossible high mode gives 2,5 hrs when turbo gives 2,6 hrs. Also this flashlight has overheat protection which is changing mode. If it doesn't heat too much, mod doesn't change. Turbo mode is changed not because of battery capasity but because of heat.

I have to admit that it sounds great (very well done review!), and I'm very tempted (don't have a good LED flashlight yet, and mostly I've been looking at AAA penlights, but THIS ThruNite is now on my wish list). But I do have to ask -- even with high lumens, multiple modes, long throw, long battery life, AND recharge capability (ALL PLUSSES TO ME), at around $70 is it a flashlight for first-timers to pursue (especially if they don't use a flashlight every single day)? Is it one that somebody can set aside for months on end, and be ready to go at any time? *Is this a "last flashlight you/I will ever need" flashlight?*

This comes at a time where I have to make a decision on my primary large light: Do I invest in something else and send my Fenix UC35 back to MEC here in Canada since the battery door literally tore off in my hand last week after BARELY using it, as per my comments/questions to you earlier in the week.... and go to something else? I wanted to be a Fenix guy w my large light b/c of the run times etc. I paid $100 CAD for it and I was so gentle with the light, has not really been used! This was useful, sending video here to my nephew at Bushcraft Cambridge who is a TN guy. Would value your opinions man, I could not believe it, I was just devastated, I thought Fenix was better than that! Now I have no large light..... I can make do with my OLight S1 for now. I think you misunderstood . I highly doubt the TC12 can run at Turbo mode for 2 hours. Even in short bursts of a few seconds each. And even if it DOES....who is going to to be using it that way?" ...what they mean is "2 min in Turbo before step down plus an hour and 55 min MAYBE in HGIH mode....".

You'd be REALLY hard-pressed to find a torch that doesn't step down from Turbo, Ben. Just look at selfbuilt's reviews. This stated runtime, as well as runtime, are ANSI FL-1 and therefore kinda faulty. The runtime means how long the light will run until it reaches 10% of the initial output, not how long it stays on the same flat mode, even because there is such a thing as direct drive where the illumination drops exactly like the battery charge does, like all Maglites with no exceptions. Throw is measured in how far the beam reaches until it can only prove 0.002 lux (allegedly the illumination of natural moonlight on a clear night), which is entirely useless. The deal breaker for me is that firefly mode only lasts 4 days, which is what you get from the Ti3 and its much smaller and less capable AAA battery, and only less ridiculous than the now-discontinued T30S's 20 hours on 5 lumens. Give me the TC10, or the non-USB TN12 2016, and their nine weeks (two months and a bit more!) of constant firefly any day of the week.
@livingsurvival
@livingsurvival 9 жыл бұрын
+Gunner193 Actually some lights step down after 5 minutes, 3 minutes etc but this one stays on turbo for a long period of time. new leds run cooler and more efficient so the overheat protection didn't kick in even outside of the refrigerator. ANSI times are often much less than stated times so their stated or ansi is incorrect. the light ran on turbo for an hour and a half and then stepped down to high. I don't care what any specs say I watched it with my own eyes. as far as firefly I know many like it but for me I have a keychain light and a pocket edc light that are more than capable of performing my firefly. A light like this is specific purpose for me like search and rescue or a vehicle light making firefly not important to me. thanks for the feedback.

So which one would you pick between this TC12 and the MH12? They're so dang similar I'm having a hard time making a decision lol. On that same note, I have $63 and some change left over from a $100 Amazon gift card just sitting in my account, and I really want/need an EDC flashlight lol. For at or around $60 (preferably including batteries), what light would you recommend? I was looking at the Nitecore P12, because "EdisonBright" on Amazon has a combo deal that essentially gives you 4 lithium CR123 batteries for free with the P12.

UC35 has the best heat sinking out of all of those lights and is waterproof with the rubber USB cover totally open. The 40 lumen difference between the UC35 and the TC12 is negligible. That being said Im buying the TC12

Really terrible technical quality of the outside footage in low light conditions. For future, use manual settings on your camera and adjust exposure compensation to (for example) minus 1/3 as auto measurement. And use manual fix focusing too.

The eagtac is not usb , per your other review , it has a plug in you have to carry around. Also , you never comment how useless the clip is , on all thrunites. It takes two hands to clip it on anything. Eagtac has the best clip. Thrunite is definitely changing with the times , but this is not a $70 worthy price tag. I would give it a $59.95 tag.

How hot did it get , at 2 hours on turbo ? Usually not good for the light at that length of time. So I'm confused , that thrunite would expand turbo run time. Does the new Cree led allow the light to be on for that length of time without damaging flashlight ?

+Bryan Resch the eagtac is usb just not micro usb. i like a stiff clip.

+Bryan Resch the light got hot but not to the point of shut down and not as hot as they used to get. new LED's are more efficient and run cooler.

+Blue Mountain Bushcraft and Outdoors even though the turbo runtime is incorrect it still gets an hour and a half on 1000 lumens. pretty decent.

+Living Survival my original Surefire 6P that I bought in the 90s (that's still going strong by the way!) pumped out an amazing 90 lumens for 50 minutes on 2 CR123 batteries. It was state of the art then. I can live with 1.5 hours at 1000!

+Living Survival is it possible that the light simply moved down to high because of overheating? What I mean is, if you left the light on turbo for an hour and a half and then shut it off for a few minutes to let it cool down, would it then get the additional run time on turbo? Just curious. Either way, that's pretty decent run time still at an hour and a half for something like turbo mode. I'm intrigued in the light for go/emergency bag usage.

Atro785 No because heat didn't cause it to step down the programming did based on battery input.

Living Survival I know and thanks for taking my feedback so well. Its just all the gear reviewers are on flashlights right now, so the viewers are kind of saturated with them. Still living what you're doing and I'm looking forward to more :)

+SurvivalTech Nord He's right though. IDK if my input had anything to do with it, but this is the flashlight I told them they needed to make. Love child of the TC10 and TN12. Good enough for me to do one more Thrunite video (haven't done yet as I just got it).

Hey living survival, I'm new to the whole flashlight arena, but I did go and look up thrunite's website... Not impressed at all... Frankly, they're kinda shady if you ask me! They don't have any contact info other than an e-mail??? Seriously? So what happens when you have a problem with your expensive flashlight?
