Thrush welded mufflers with 2.5" pipes and headers. Ford 302

I wanted to make a video of how the car sounded with the new exhaust. Might help someone trying to decide. I wanted to note what the cam is: Competition cam. SK31-216-2 .447 lift.

@@johncotter1600 High lift cams help to get that sound too but but these thrush welded mufflers and the flowmaster original 40 series are definately a step in the right direction.

Just put these same mufflers on my 77 C20, but 3” pipe all the way (I’m planning on a supercharged SBC350 build in the near future) Sounds awesome! I used this video deciding what mufflers to use so thank you!

Man thank you so much for showing us this. I am looking to change my mufflers but I want a deep throaty sound. My current mufflers sound great as long as I am idling or cruising,but when I get on it, it is too loud for me!

Nice, I had a 66 coup with a 302 with 351W 4bb heads, Marley dual points distributor. Headman header's, thrush muffler's and a top loader four spread with 410 gears in the rear. she squat and get! Oh yeah she was canary yellow 😂

I'm not sure what thrush mufflers are on my 83 fox 5.0. But it has bbk equals and 2.5 pipes. Not crazy loud just driving around. They sound 👍

To me a muscle car should only ever have chambered mufflers and No catalytic converters as they destroy the sound. This sounds incredible. I have a thrush welded and cat delete on my 5.9 magnum Dodge Ram.

love it - sounds great! do you know if the heads are stock? stock compression? I have 1 cam bigger, (the 268) yours is 260, in my 305 with identical exhaust setup and yours idles choppier than mine.... kinda confused!

Nice sound I noticed that you didn't put in a H-pipe what's your thoughts on them . I installed one on my 67 Fairlane when I put the new motor in last year and not sure if I noticed any advantage with it .

Generally an H pipe will change the sound compared to true duals if nothing else...

Any head work? Or just cam? This video is what made me decide on the thrush mufflers for my 89 mazda b2200 that I 302 swapped. In middle of the thrush install now. Will update when finished.

I have that cam in my 289 that I built in the 80's. Mild cam yes but very nice midrange. I went with tri Y's, H pipe and 2 inch pipes with Thrush turbos. Not sure why you went with 2.5 inch. Sound?

yes I have flowmasters on my 68 firebird and they sound completely different but the cams are not even close in comparison the flowmasters are a bit droning while driving the car but I do like the way they sound at idle with a lumpy cam. I didn't want that with my 69 I wanted a bit quieter exhaust as its not a race car just a nice driver

Hard to say how much it will help a stock 305. These mufflers are very similar to flow masters though.
