I have a tool at my workplace that is similar to the sizzle stick, but on a smaller scale. It is for resurfacing the sealing faces on replaceable sight glass windows for water level sight glasses on power generation boilers. Evidently I’ve been doin’ stuff real good for decades, and didn’t even know it! Love the channel Pete, and really enjoy your Facebook posts! Keep up the good stuff doin’…….

Block gets hot. Crank gets hot. I like to measure thrust run out and and "bump" the thrust while grinding the crank . similar to what you are doing. Great job.

If your paper holder was on say a square drive against a shoulder, you could then just slide the mandrel in the center out to replace the paper instead of having to pull the main caps. Or the other simpler option is to just cut the paper radially in one place and flex it over the center mandrel to stick it onto the thrust polisher.

Okay, now it's a true & square surface. So does the stock thrust bearing still work, or do you need a bearing with a narrowed cross section in the saddle or a thicker thrust face? Obviously, you didn't remove a lot, but ya did remove something, so how do you go about getting the crank to sit where it's supposed to?
