In this video I show you how to fix the loose throttle on the entry level HOTAS sticks made by Thrustmaster. This fix will cost about $5.00 and take two minutes or less to complete and is completely reversible.
This is the Velcro I used;

Bro there's so many different ways to address this issue. And your simple suggestion was one of the top ones that I've seen so far thank you sir for that bit of intelligence you have turned a mediocre flight stick throttle into something much better

I can't believe I waited 12 months before trying to fix this floppy throttle. After taking it apart and scratching my head a while, I found your video. Thanks for the fix, it really works great!

Got mine this morning and the floppy throttle was too much for me even straight out of the box. Didn't have any velcro lying around so went the nuclear approach and opened it up, filed down the 50 detent bump then added an 8mm spacer inside the plastic box thingy to compress the spring. 10 min and a voided warranty later it feels perfect now. Smooth 0-100 thrust with a good amount of resistance 👌🏻. I don't understand why they released a product with such a handicap when the rest of it is spot on

I too mine apart and considered your fix, but I didn’t want to void the warranty. It is a great stick, but I agree, I don’t understand why they released it with what I consider a flaw.

Yeah, my resistance wasn't that bad, I suppose there could be variances in the Velcro strips. I did take it apart after I added the Velcro and removed the ridge that holds it at 50%, the motion is much better without it. Glad the Velcro help.

I have an unrelated question if someone could answer that would be awesome, this controller can register as an xbox controller right? if I leave it in that setting when I connect it to a Win11 PC will it register as an xbox controller? In turn would this allow me to use it as an "Xbox Controller" for games that don't have joystick support?

How did you squeeze the felt strip between the throttle base and the controller housing? For me there is almost no space inbetween and I can't see how to do it other then to grind a bit off the housing.
@FTGRC

For me it fit without any squeezing required. Manufacturing tolerances perhaps in the throttle or the Velcro, I’m not sure.

@@FTGRC Thank you for the quick response. I ended up taking some cloth sicky tape, sticking multiple layers ontop one another and sticking all of it on the throttle base. Works well enough. Great video btw juding by the other comments and the like/dislike ratio it helped most people, I guess mine was just manufactured differently.

Hello, thanks for the video. Your package of Velcro says 3 1/2 in x 3/4 in. 5lb, do you know what the thickness is? I have tried 2 different Velcro packages and it is all too thick, when you move the throttle, the Velcro won't go under to complete the movement.

@FTGRC

It could be that the Velcro strip is too thick or just manufacture tolerances with the throttle stick assembly.

Too thick..keeps coming off and jamming up..the packaging looks the exact same and says the exact same thing as the Velcro you have listed ..very strange..
@FTGRC
@FTGRC 2 жыл бұрын
Hmm, could be manufacturing tolerances in the Velcro or the Flight Stick. You could try shorter pieces of Velcro and cutting them at a slight angle.

@@FTGRC I got it to work, however, I don't like how all the tiny fibers are flying off everywhere and getting down into the throttle...I found another solution.. Cat Tongue brand grip tape strips..It's perfect thickness, and has a plastic-rubber grid-like surface on top of each strip, so when you are moving the throttle, you almost feel a tiny bit of a clicking sensation (just barely).. and since it's a type of plasitc-rubber grip tape, there are no fibers flying off everywhere everytime you move the throttle back and forth..Great idea idea on your part, though, brother..I just am always OCD about my stuff, and I am always concerned I'm going to do something to damage it, haha..

@@FTGRC there probably isn't any, haha, I just shined a light down on my throttle after moving it back and forth a few times, and there were little pieces of the Velcro fibers all over it..It worked great, but that just concerned me a bit..I happened to have that grip tape laying around, and I never thought to try it..It works perfectly as well..I'd leave a link for you to get it on Amazon, but I'm not sure how to do that, haha..

@@FTGRC Unfortunately i don't because for me it took a lot of time to make it optimal i dismantled it 3-4 times to find the solution and also broke wires to sensor and re solder them again but don't worry it happened to me because i was tired and became little sloppy. So... what i did i unscrewed bottom screws (8 totally 1 is behind cable) and when you look inside you will see some black bracket with 2screws holding in place black cradle and spring inside, you need to unscrew it but be careful because spring is under tension so it doesn't fly over your house :D. There is nothing sensitive inside so you don't worry its pretty simple mechanism , only thing the sensor is connected to that black cradle so just be little careful because of wires (you will get it once you open). So the whole problem is that spring inside is to weak i tried to readjust the spring but eventually it comes back to natural form. What i did i shorten the distance between both side of spring wall to make it more tight by putting inside cradle (where one end of spring is sitting) about 0,5cm (width) of aluminium foil shaped in square just like that cradle and put back spring over it and put everything back... believe me its completely different experience.. if you put more foil inside it can be even more resistant but for me this is enough. I found some pictures online if you need details i can show you and explain little deeper
