Thrustmaster T-LCM pedals REVIEW: Sim racing fun afoot?

In my Thrustmaster T-LCM pedals review, I see whether these shiny load cell foot-touchers are worth the money and how they compare with the competition from Fanatec.
These pedals were sent to me for free, but I've been a journalist for years so the appeal of free things doesn't stop my jaded mentality and cynical nature from shining through in all of its glory. In other words, this review is as unbiased as humanly possible.
Correction: It's an RJ12 connector that connects the pedals to a steering wheel, not RJ45 as I say in the review. Too much coffee!

I came here looking for some field-report/experience info about Thrusmaster T-LCM. I appreciate that you cover both metrics and non-metrics scales to start, plus you spent time to fill up the description with many links (so many YT reviewers spend hours recording/editing, then forget that basic UX). And the effort to include some close-ups + funny/neat video captures. Also very nice that you keep comparing the T-LCM vs T3PA-Pro vs T3PA. Many reviewers focus on Thrusmaster vs Fanatec, forgetting that most users start with a brand then keep exploring its eco-system upgrades ("I have a TM wheel + shifter + T3PA, adding a Fanatec item isn't an option"). So I'm half into the video but I +1 and subscribed. Kudos.

Thanks Eric, my reviews take longer to make because I try to consider as many different consumers as possible. And I always read video descriptions so I try to stuff them with useful stuff. I'll keep improving with future accessories (more reviews incoming, including the PlaySeat Challenge and Logitech G923)!

Nice video! I just ordered these pedals and the th8a shifter. I should be putting out some racing content soon with them. This video helped ease my mind about my impulse purchase to get them without much research.

@@ATribeCalledCars I just started my channel and want to add more realism with a clutch and load cell brake. Just paddle shifting for now and it's fun, but I want the option to match the car I'm driving.

Just for sake of precision, the HEART technology is not featured in the T3PA and T3PA PRO as there's no Hall sensor in them but potentiometers. It is featured in other Thrustmaster products, though, like the TX and T300 (and I suppose all of the upper range wheels)

I'm having trouble deciding if I should just buy the Thrustmaster T300RS Alcantara Edition or buy the Wheel and Base separately and get these pedals instead of the ones in the bundle. Do the TLCM Pedals connect to the wheel base or would I have to connect to USB's to the PC to get it to work? Thanks!

Superior brake pedals make a difference to realism and braking feel so if you can afford it go for the T-LCM. And yes the pedals connect to the back of the wheel, not USB into the computer. I have cable ties to run all the wires neatly together once they leave my TS-XW.

Good review, i have a question. Is the Fanatec Clubsport v3 allot better that the Thrustmaster T-LCM? or maybe put it this way, is the 160euro more for the Fanatecs worth it?

Good question. You can invert the V3 pedals and they use a different sensor type than the Elite LCs, which is said to help with reliability and braking consistency. Nicely built too. However, they are best served with the brake kit extra and that bumps up the price. The TL-CM pedals are definitely not that much less impressive, it's a lot of money for not a lot of real-world gain if you buy the V3. Sadly, the higher up the ladder you go the more that's the case.

@@metalas4900 the wheel is great! Came from a g27 and this a lot better in every way! The pedals however are not. I had a modded g27 pedal set. (spring upgrade) and they where far better than the t3pa pedals. I had a good deal on a complete set with playseat and shifter from a couple of months old. If you play on pc, and you buy everything new i would recomend an ts-pc with the new T-LCM pedals. Or maybe you bump into a good deal just as me and buy the T-LCM after like i will.

I prefer the T-LCM, they should be more reliable because of the design and they feel meatier. Plus more pedal surface, although I'm not sure if there's a price difference where you are from. And also it's good to match your wheel with your pedals but I don't know what you have.

@@ATribeCalledCars First off, thanks for responding so quickly! :) And whoa, not the answer I expected! Interesting. I am looking at getting the Fanatec CSL Elite. I have considered the Logitech G29, G923, Thrustmaster T300RS GT, but it just seems that "bit" more to get to the Fanatec CSL Elite makes SUCH a big difference, especially over the Logitech offerings. The only EXTRA costly part I have been looking at is then also buying the Fanatec CSL Load Cell Pedals. And I think the V3s look cool, seem great, but I think my budget is then being pushed too far. I'm in the US. Currently, Fanatec CSL Elite Wheel Base with Wheel and Pedals + Full Pedals Set Load Cell Kit (cheaper this way for some reason then just the one load cell pedal), comes out to $709.90. Fanatec CSL Elite Wheel Base with Wheel (no pedals) = $499.95 + Thrustmaster T-LCM pedals (if you can find them in stock) are $199.99 which all totals to $699.94. Not much price difference. I just want to get what is best for what I can afford. I definitely wouldn't go more expensive than the Fanatec CSL Elite Wheel Base/Wheel, but I don't want to sacrifice the quality and experience if I go below that. The pedals are such an important part of the experience, and I have seen enough evidence for the load cell logic (muscle memory), that I agree with it, and I want to go that route in some fashion, to some degree.

Then do the Fanatec package, the pedals can be unreliable (potentiometer) but the wheel is great and a step above the T300. Plus the TS-XW is probably out of budget, especially once you factor in the T-LCM pedals.

Quite late reply but they come with both options, the RJ Adapter for the Wheelbase and USB for Use without the TM Wheel.

I have a local sim store which has them in stock, however most consumer retailers like Amazon, Walmart, staples, and others in Canada is all out of stock for months now as well. Even worse the pedals doesn’t even exist in the TM store page on Amazon for me. Really best of luck to all of us 📉

Tried pugging in as seperate controller.. it seems to work normally.. but the brake spikes sometimes despite not pushing in the brake... i'll try to reset the pedals.. maybe that'mm fix it.

CSL Elite LCs way better in every way in my opinion and in alot of objective ways. Ive used both. CSL's are sleeker, ALL metal, more accurate to the actual size of a wilwood race car pedal kit, can be inverted if your handy, and more comfortable to me and I where 11-11.5 size shoe. The T-LCM are big, bulky, ugly as all hell, mostly plastic, and have a terribly weak plastic pivot design for the pedals the have insane insane amounts of flex and are just dying to break. Even in this video you can see the pedals going left and right when you're using them. Them claiming a lifetime of use with the 2mm thick plastic tab pivot is hilarious. I mean seriously, what kind of engineering team makes a load cell pedal that is made for high braking force and they choose to pivot the single highest stress point with 2mm thin dinky plastic tabs on each side. I think thrustmaster makes good wheels for the money but these new pedals to me are just...yuck. I mostly Sim on my PC Rig But with Gran Turismo 7 coming out I might have to bring out my old T300 and modded T3PAs or get these unfortunately...unless Polyphony Digital will provide support more usb pedals and a proper calibration system with a LINEAR Throttle response unlike GT Sports insane Gamma curve where when you push your throttle 85% of the way you at 50% input in the game, giving you 10-15% of throttle throw left to deal with the last 50% of half to full throttle. GENIUS! No wonder everybody spins out and cant control there cars worth shit online because its applied that way to the controllers as well. Anyways...

Yea the t3pa has a plastic gear everything pivots on that wore out in one year . How do you not make this metal ? i think they are designed to fail 1 day after warranty expiration.

Load cell is VITAL to good pace. So in that light t3pa or t3pa pro, are shit pedals. Also hall sensors are reliable, not as potentiometers in t3pa.
