Great tutorial! Followed along and upgraded my fan. I didn't want to splice any wires so I just bought an adapter on Amazon. In case anyone wants to do the same, it's called "CRJ Mini 2-Pin Fan Adapter Cables (2-Pack) - 4-inch (10cm), Black Sleeved - Connect 3-Pin/4-Pin PC Fans to Mini 2-Pin JST XH 2.5mm Headers" and ran me $8.99 for a 2 pack. Make sure you get the "MINI 2-Pin to Fan" one and not the "MICRO 2-Pin to Fan" or the "Mini TO Micro 2-Pin" one. Thanks again!

hello again glenn and thank you very much for answering so soon. I have seen there is space on the sides to put two smaller fans, one to extract and the other to insert. For example, the one you remove to insert the noctua is used again to insert air. The questions I have are: how to connect the two/three together (the wiring). Where would I connect the fans (the 2/3 fans directly to the power supply, two on the power supply and another on the other side (where?) What characteristics should they have so that together with the noctua the power supply does not break down (Noctua + 2 fans of amperage x?, watts x?). I need help please I have no idea about electronics and I have seen that you are very pro. Thanks again in advance for your help.

@@GlennThoughts Do you have any overheating problems after the mod? Obviously its a lot quiter. I know it all depends on ffb settings. I like mine at 80% and with that i can play an hour before it starts overheating. At 60% stock fan always on solves the problem but thats to light for me. This mod didn't solve the overheating issue to me, the steering wheel gets overheated at the same rate as before and I feel even less air being pushed out from the base by the noctua fan compared to the stock fan. I still recommend this mod if you want to make your wheel running quieter.
@foutus
@foutus 2 жыл бұрын
Tip: I took a standard intel cooler left the base open at the back, keep it on full power. Noise level 0.0 and cooling better then that stupid fan. You have to break of some plastic, use a piece of gluegun glue it to the base abit, so you can later remove it again. Ultra basic I recorded a video for your eye's only 👀 kzbin.infoegWPsohzvEw

@@ekfotos Actually if you look other comments or in other topics on the web you will see other people stating that this mod will not make your wheel cooler, do your research. Also I didn't say the mod is not working, I mounted my fan correctly and I am still using this mod today. I'm glad to have installed it since it is much more quiet than the stock fan. To improve cooling I saw other people mounting a fan on top of the base that will push hot air out, this implies making a hole of the size of the fan you want to install plus other holes to let you screw it.

Because noctua is bigger, better, and quieter. The reason why stock fan has to spin faster and work harder is because it is smaller.

i always loose around 80% of my force feedback in 15 laps of racing (usally f1 22). Is this fan gonna make the difference not in terms of noise but cooling? i dont have any airconditioning in my room and it always start overheating even with the forced option on.

Most definitely. The stock fan is not that good so if you dont have an aircon this mod is kinda a must

Hello. New fan is quieter and pushes more air meaning its more powerful and efficient

This Noctua fan operates more quietly but it's less powerful than the original one. It's actually a downgrade in terms of cooling but not an upgrade.

Wrong. Its more efficient and blows more air. Louder fans doesnt mean its better. Most of the tine those are worst

@@GlennThoughts you can find the specifications of the stock fan here (21.39CFM): www.chiefly-choice.com/fans/uploads/122939245975j0n.pdf This Noctua fan has about 17CFM which is less than the stock one. So of course you are right that noisier doesn't always mean more powerful, but from these 2, the cheap Chinese (stock) fan pushes more air than the high quality Noctua fan. Your video was still helpful and gave directions to me how to solve my problem. I replaced the main fan with a more powerful (~27CFM) fan and also added additional 2 small 40mm fans to take out the hot air from the system (without any new holes, used the existing ones to keep the design).
