Shorten up your release so that the calipers end were your middle finger begins. That will allow you to really dig in on the trigger with your index finger. Since the tip of your finger is more sensitive, you may be suprised when the bow actually goes off with it set this way.

Yup! That's how she normally runs it but after a year away it was off a bit
@AllNighterHeider Жыл бұрын
That's how Bruce had me set up. Lots of finger pad on the trigger. I think the curl of the finger creates less movement that way when pulling back to loose the arrow
@Makka316 Жыл бұрын
Interestingly I was thinking the same thing about the thumb release. In the video it looks like the thumb trigger is extended a long way out resulting in the thumb having to open/stretch out a long way to wrap around it which might create some tension. Of course everyone is different so Brianna may very well prefer it like that but I quite like having my thumb in a relaxed position wrapping partially around the trigger post. Sort of similar to the way John Dudley or George Ryals might explain it. Once my thumb is in position I don't really think about it while pulling - actually "expanding" is what I visualise rather than "pulling" - through the shot. Would like to try an index release one day though.

Being in construction and a firearms guy, my thumb is not generally used to actuate anything. Ironically, with drills I use my middle finger and firearms I use my index. With my release I use my index also, that's what I'm learning on and that's what I'm comfortable with. Thanks Brianna and BD crew

@@BowDisciples using that release is like the best of both worlds. Wrist strap which is the same as an index release but the benefit of back tension which allows pulling thru the shot.

I am just switching from index to thumb for the first time. Like many said, the wrist strap on the index release takes some of the weight of the draw. I just purchase the Stan axis release, which has a wrist strap on the thumb release. It is very adjustable for being a one-piece unit, trigger travel and tension can be set, as well as the thumb barrel being very ajustable. I am looking forward to really using this release, as, I am learning to use proper back tension instead of punch the trigger, like the first shot she took. I set up target at 10 yards in my basement today to work on technique, and am finding I like my thumb release more than my old index.

i shoot all kinds of releases but always come back to the old reliable index trigger. i use a hinge release to really retrain my patience on the shot when i start to feel jumpy, but otherwise love the index. i use a kisser button, tip of the nose on the string, thats my anchor with any release, and the only change i see is left/right between releases. and, yes drawing is much easier with a wrist strap, i draw 70 pounds and its not a struggle for me, but its noticeably easier by like a lot with a wrist strap. shoot what feels best!

I'm in the same boat. I struggle with thumb release but not w my caliper release. I tried to keep up w newest development but just more comfortable wcwrist release. I do not have target panic so I can squeeze trigger no prob. Very useful info on this. Nobody is doing this stuff except Bow Desciples. Reaso is the market for hand releases .

Whenever you have the finger release on, you’re pulling more with your wrist instead of your hand when you had the thumb release you’re pulling more with your hand that’s why it feels better with the other one then with your thumb release I switch from a finger release to a thumb release and I shoot better with the thumb than I do with regular, but I can go between the two just in case my thumb release breaks
@BowDisciples Жыл бұрын

@adventuresofaveragemike Жыл бұрын
It's easier with the index release because you are able to pull the weight with your wrist instead of your fingers. Think of it like when you are dead lifting at the gym with wrist straps, able to hold more weight. I did notice you wanted to punch the thumb button release after switching too. I think if you adjust the finger release to be a little shorter you could shoot it the same way you do your thumb release. Still good shooting with both though 👌

I shoot an index release/ wrist rocket here in Australia, which I try to shoot with back tension haha, but when I switch to the hinge, I find my arrows land left of the target, interesting to see when you went back to the index release to see your arrows landing right of the target....😁also I try get more of my finger to wrap around the trigger than using the end of my index finger🤷♂
