I was fortunate enough to see Bob Munden at one of the last End of Trails he appeared at.

Mr. Munden came to one of our little cowboy action shoots in PA. I was pretty new to cowboy action so it wasn’t hard to just stop shooting and tag along so I could watch the (if memory serves) the Arizona Thumper. Too cool! He put on a little expo at the end of the shoot and I was taking it all in. I can still see him now. ❤

I started following this interesting fellow a few years ago. His character was unique, with a bit of humor/sarcasm. That's sort of how I am as well. I'm a huge fan of history/genealogy and so I really appreciate his postings. The firearms piece for me, is interesting. I never fired a true gun until my "Daisey" BB gun. I entered the police academy to be given a .38 POLICE S&W SPECIAL revolver to enter the academy. I was that kid (and I was a kid at the time) that my firearms instructors had to work with during the 4 mos of the Police Academy (Ohio). Prior to graduating my academy, we had a 'TOP GUN' competition. My opponent was a great friend I had made. The parameters: Two shots into two clay pigeons .. and one shot to the target head to win. Who won? The small town redneck kid me after my training on a Daisey BB gun. You bring back great memories for me, Andrew. Thank you, sir!

Have you ever made a video demonstrating how fast a single-action revolver can be fired one-handed by thumb-cocking before each pull of the trigger?
@SaintAndrewTV26 күн бұрын
I have not, but I wonder if some people would find that interesting.

Thank you very much! And I must say, the most unique question I’ve ever been asked! But to answer said question, a safety razor! Haven’t mustered up the courage to use a straight razor yet!

Do you know where I could get a good replica pistol and holster for a cheap price? I really want to try spinning but don’t want to spend too much
@SaintAndrewTV3 ай бұрын
My friend Mitch over at JM & Company built me mine! He does the same quality of work of a $800 holster for a fraction of the price! And they’re historically accurate! Shoot him a message! instagram.com/jmandcompanyleather?igsh=N2R4MHFwOXZia3hv

I enjoyed the video, but I was under the impression that the thumb cocked the hammer after it cleared leather, in a back and to the side movement. It seems awfully dangerous to thumb cock the revolver while it is in the holster. Those old Colts had not safety bar requiring the trigger being pulled to fire. If you pulled the hammer back far enough and it slipped off your thumb while still in the holster, it could go off. I enjoy watching but I wouldn't want to try this technique.

Extremely dangerous. No doubt. I don’t advise anyone to do this with live ammunition.

*I 100% have to agree with St. Andrew - this technique is EXTREMELY LETHAL - And should only be practiced by VERY experienced Professionals, under VERY controlled circumstances.* Even carrying my modern safety system Ruger Vaquero... I won't do this.

That’s right. Extremely dangerous. I, personally will not be doing this technique again with live ammunition! Thank you for understanding it my friend!

I was going to say something about this, but thought it best not to.🙊.
@SaintAndrewTV9 ай бұрын
What would that be?
@anangryranger9 ай бұрын
Ok. I wasn't going to say this. But it's not a matter of could I do it, as much as a matter of should I do it. It's unsafe. Saw an officer on the range cock his pistol in the holster and then rip an 20" wound down his leg. A year of surgeries and rehab, and he still worked a desk. He never returned to the street. And that was done by a 38Spl 148gr wadcutter. Imagine a 357mag or a 45 Colt?😵
@SaintAndrewTV9 ай бұрын
@@anangryranger oh I’m aware. And I agree, wholeheartedly. I purposefully did it very methodically to be safe-er that is. Could probably stand to tighten up the safety, but I don’t plan on doing this again. To be frank, it was a little nerve racking. But don’t hold your tongue, Wade. You’ve been around a lot longer than me. And guidance or advice is always appreciated.

@@SaintAndrewTV Well, I wasn't trying to be a wet blanket, but I've been around wounds and everything conceivable that can occur to people for years. That officer's leg look like he'd been gored by an ox. It was shredded so badly that the skin grafts were only done in critical areas. He didn't have enough skin tissue on him available from other locations and healing was slow. Reckon it's the "grandpa" in me showing. 😏
@SaintAndrewTV9 ай бұрын
@@anangryrangerwell I appreciate it Grandpa Wade! It’s helpful and it’s a friendly reminder that you can never be too careful! Especially with a 45. Can only imagine what that’ll look like!
