Thunder chicken & Trash Panda review

Bought a Thunder Chicken few weeks ago for my Honey Badger from AR15Discounts, they were having a massive end of year clear out and were selling the $1,100+ Thunder Chicken for $700. Snapped that up in a heart beat!

Thanks for the good info. I am torn between the thunder chicken and trash panda, have heard from some that they could hardly tell a diffence in sound side by side. Leaning towards the trash panda most likely but that TC is tempting

@@LoneStarBoars Ordered the Q Thunder Chicken a few weeks ago...who knows when I'll get it but I ordered a Tirant 9m about 2 months before that so I've got 2 waits going on. In a few months I'll probably order the Salvo 12 as well.

@@neoshazam I'm waiting on the Thunder Chicken as well. I've had the Tirant 9 for about a year now. Shooting 147 Grain FMJ is nice, but when I pair it with Fiocchi 158 grain FMJ it's scary quiet and always puts a smile on my face. The Fiocchi averages about 850 FPS. Your going to love the Tirant.

Lone Star Boars Can you list all the companies that offer Tapered AR Barrels? Reason I ask is I want to run these can interchangeably and I know there’s some requirements for a non tapered barrel for the cherry bomb as described by Q on their website even though everyone says it doesn’t matter id like the most concentricity I can get

If a person was just getting started in the silencer world, because most all the silencers have their own proprietary mounts, etc - what line would recommend they start with? My assumption is they would get: - 1 rifle 30 cal suppressor (to cover .300 win mag, .308 .223, and all other common rifle calibers, etc) - 1 pistol .45 caliber (so you could suppress all pistols .45, 9mm, etc) - 1 rimfire .22 caliber (Because .22 are fun plinkers and the cans are cheap... does that cover both pistols and rifles?) And that way, you could outfit most your entire armory buy just buying additional muzzle devices/mounts so you can use and switch between all your guns... It looks like Gemtech has a whole matching set for this. Deadair silencers looks really good too... Assumption is also that you want the best warranty possible, guaranteed for full-auto, shortest barrel lengths (or no barrel length restrictions like the DeadAir), good company customer service, etc Or are these Q silencers you just reviewed, the ones you like best out of everything?

No I think they are quietest in this order thunder chicken, full Nelson, trash panda. Trash panda is shorter not quieter.

do you know what if your silencer is not as quiet as you think it should be look at your camera in slow motion and see if gas is escaping from the breach it might not be locking up fast enough and you might have to do a spring change and then it will be quieter as long as it locks up in time

Thunder chicken is quieter but a little over 1” longer. I prefer the Thunder Chicken in most things I do. I mostly hunt wide open spaces so an extra inch isn’t hurting me but the extra sound suppression is nice. If I hunt thick areas then the tp May be useful.

Lone Star Boars Hehe, i guess so. Here in Sweden it’s unfortunately not allowed to shoot pigs with subsonic ammo. At 100 meters the bullet must have at least 2000 joules of energy.

Come to Texas. All you need is to locate a friend that has the space. That said I would opt for a guided hunt merely because you will be more likely to get on them and will be with people that know the lay of the land. It's open season all the time here. I would recommend going for a hunt from say February through about June. After that it's pretty hot and the bugs are out in full force.

I would still go in this order Thunder Chicken, Trash Panda, Omega. At least out of those three choices.

I haven't tried out a Trash Panda yet, but in the market for one. Omega is amazingly quiet for the size, lots of mounts available. But, Q Trash Panda and Chicken are 30% larger volume because of the 1.75" diameter body. I was considering a SiCo Hybrid, but they are almost 9" long, and much louder. A silencer looses is efficiency one the baffles are over 0.07" over bore. This is why the larger 338 suppressors aren't any quieter than the 30 Cal cans. Trash Panda may be 5db louder than the Chicken, but still the largest & shortest 30 Cal blackout can, other than the Wilson Combat Whisper

After watching Kevin's videos on instagram I personally wouldn't go with anything but "Q." He's worked with silencers for years and years. In the videos he basically straight up talks trash about the other companies. The thunder chicken and trash panda come with the cherry bomb muzzle brake, so you don't have to buy one separate compared to other companies. He shows all of the tools that come with the silencers and says "Enough tools to work on your car." From what I have read and understand is all you need for the "Q" silencers is a socket wrench. He later shows the endplates for different calibers that you can buy for the suppressors for even more money. He even had a silencerco I'm pretty sure, but the tube on the baffles is glued on. He pulled it straight off. Like he says most of these companies are marketers not real technology. Just my 2 cents.
