I switched to the Sabre Black 110gr in 300 BlK after seeing Tool and Targets video on it. I have some of 7.62x39 black tip and it looks good.

Even the Wolf ammo slaps hogs. Just as good if not better than 6.8, and a good chunk better than 762x39/556/300blk. Best medium to long range hog rifles

Picked up a couple hundred rds of this a few months ago as a home defense rd after doing a meat target (rip Paul Harrell) test, and was very impressed by accuracy and wound channel. Was curious how it’d do on hogs, as it’s much cheaper and easier to tote than my 450 bushmaster. Thanks for the info brother. Cheers from Angleton, TX.

Thanks for the info. Al How about the AAC 77 grain OTM review? What I'm looking into from an 18 incher. Always "on sale" $10.99 it seems.

On a side note, being a fellow beard guy... your beard is about to get real interesting in about 2 weeks and will stay wild for a few months after that. You're going gray (been there, done that) and when that mixes with brown... it gets crazy. You'll have to beat the women off you with a stick. I'm only half joking.

Sent 80 rounds of the Sabre X39 to my old man. He had no accuracy complaints. And his AR build functioned flawlessly with the AAC product. Some of this 75gr Sabre are in my near future

Don’t think you can ask for much better from a 5.56. PSA AAC👍🏻

Guarantee those 75 grain Sabers are the same 75 grain ELDMs, just with a black polymer tip. ELDMs absolutely are some killers on animals.

from the youtuber Tools&Targets the 7.62x39 aac black tip is an sst. He posted a video recently on comparing both and they look pretty much identical in ballistics gel.

Those are fairly impressive results for 5.56mm on hogs, just for shits and giggles I’m curious how the 62gr SS109 load would fair on hogs for the terminal ballistics on humans. It’s pretty cool that the better and even OTM match ammo has come down in prices recently. Good stuff brother, god bless Texas 🇺🇸⚓️💪👍

There have been guesstimates that they are SSTs even though Hornady doesn't list a .224 75gr SST or .308 110gr SST in their online catalog. 🤔
@briankopp13698 күн бұрын
I've had decent luck with them, the 6.5 grendel version is also good. Pretty sure they are sst with a black tip, which is fine, they are plenty accurate. In 5.56 I haven't tried real accuracy testing, have only been using them with thermal, but the Grendels with a 25 power scope group 1/2 moa all day.

Nice presentation. I picked up a bunch of the 77gr as my typical 556 round is the IMI 77gr RazorCore. The performance is very similar to the IMI with the same rated MV as the 75gr. I also have the 6.5G, 6.5C, 7.62x39 and 308. It's all great stuff. Hornady is actually producing the bullets for AAC for this line of ammo. That is clearly stated on the product description. In the 6.5s and the x39, the bullet is a Hornady SST for all intents and purposes. I don't know about the other calibers. Didn't check. For brass x39 hunting stuff, I'm using PPU 123gr PSP and RNSP. I bought a few cases of each as the brass is good for 6 or 7 reloads. They're both good stuff. I keep the RNSP in the shorties for when the zombies come. They're nasty when they hit tissue. I'm using Belom and Norma for x39 fmj. Both are under 50¢ a pop. Both have good reloadable brass. The Norma that's listed as tactical is loaded rather warm compared to typical x39 loadings. Enjoyed the video. Saving pennies to get a thermal. Still using IR at the moment.

Id love to see the AAC 75gr OTM's as well. Theyre like 55c each most of the time, and should essentially have the same performance
@chrisrosenthal121010 күн бұрын
Might have similar flight characteristics, but a lot different terminal performance. The Saber is a basically a Hornady SST. Hornady makes it for them, and someone representing AAC/PSA verified that in a thread in AR15*com. It's a tapered jacket for controlled expansion and mechanically bonded with a lock ring. The jacket is thin up front to initiate expansion at extended ranges and gets thicker to reduce over expansion and retain weight for better penetration. The tip is just to initiate expansion and not their heat shield tip. OTM's are designed with only one thing in mind... high BC and accuracy. Nothing in the design at all for terminal performance. On conventional FMJ's, the jacket is open in the back and that's where the core is loaded. They finally realized the squareness of the base of the bullet to the bore is where most of your accuracy comes from. So they started loading the core from the front and controlling tolerances better on the base.
