Haha thanks man I'm pleasantly suprised by the feedback. This is one of the best soundtracks on the MD (of not the best) so I was expecting to get slaughtered for such blasphemy.

Mandatory reading for enjoyers of this track: Thunder Force occasionally "borrows" from actual rock bands, and this one was heavily based on LOUDNESS - "Soldier of Fortune" (the opening riff and the chorus are the most recognizable).

Did a convincing job. Imagine if Technosoft had ported Thunder Force to the SNES it would've sounded like this.

@Chuck Stegall It's by far the more Superior Soundchip and it's possible for a very Clean Sound. And I Say this AS a Fan of FM Synthesis and proud owner of a Yamaha DX.

@@salvatoredidio9424 Sure thing, mate.Say whatever makes you feel better, doesn't make it true ,though ( by far the more Superior Soundchip LOL ).
@retropolis15 ай бұрын
Actually it is true. The SNES had the far superior soundchip. The problem is that it didn't have enough memory to back it up, so the samples had to be small and low in quality. Imagine the SNES having 128k instead of 64k (of which 32k were already taken for the playback software). It would have kicked the living sh*t out of the Sega sound department. I mean, in many cases it did with only 32k available for samples, despite their low quality. That said - i still love the Mega Drive Soundchips for what they were capable of.

great work on this one; even if I believe I'd rather use the instrument plate/samples from "Thunder Spirits" for authenticity, or at least add stronger percussions, but otherwise quite an astounding redux! that said, if you ask me, I can give you an ultimate challenge (provided you give me a few days/weeks to come up with the ca$h for the proper request; what with "The Global Nightmare" making it harder to earn it and all...) should you accept it= redux this theme... on the good old CPS-2 Sound Engine, or at least do so with "Omake No. #05" from the same OST!

Super Nintendo actually made the instruments sound close to their real life counterparts. Sega often had trouble doing this, and whenever it did, it was largely the exception rather than the rule.
