Completely agree Jeff, the rules are very difficult to assimilate, despite the clear design effort that has been put into creating them. I'm having a vassal tutorial game in preparation of a big face-to-face effort in June, and I find myself making mistake after mistake despite flicking through the paper and PDF rulebook. I'd be interested in looking at your reorganised rulebook if you don't mind sharing. Still, I have a lot of hope for the game and the system.

The cards seem similar to what is used in Totaler Krieg. You get to choose your current card each turn, which comes with advantages and disadvantages. But you are locked in for a couple of turns with your choice.

Great review. Clear and to the point. Not my cup of tea, but your reviews on it are still well worth watching.

I've ordered this and I'm still waiting for it to arrive, but it looks very promising. The rules are kind of long but there's a lot of white space in the rule book. I'm hoping it will start to click once I can begin to push counters around. There are a lot of videos and articles for this game (many of them available through the VPG website), which may be helpful for overcoming that "where do I start / how do I start" feeling. I'm looking forward to your next video on this.

I agree the supplemental information is very helpful. But, I do think the materials in the box should be enough to grasp any game. I've been trying to limit myself to the RAW mainly because I like to unravel a game a bit at a time. I don't want any "cheat codes" that reveal all of the secrets too soon...
