the way they withhold the drop from us the first time around at the end of the first verse, waiting allll the way until the second at 4:40 to do it, in itself kinda feels like looking through a window at a thunderstorm trying to watch lightning, the anticipation, waiting, not knowing when it will come. Silly of us to think lightning will obey our timing, it drops when it wants to drop. But man when it finally happens, its a divine sight

These lyrics are really about how easy it is for selfishness and dark thoughts to consume oneself, the judgement that must always follow, and redemption at the end, understanding that lightning will strike, and thunder will roll, but you can still look to the next day, head held high and free of sorrow. Easy to say that in retrospect, but really this song is about the greed of man. Ramuh is a deity primarily concerned with the preservation of nature. The aspirations of man are antithetical to Ramuh's goals. The worm is greed and the means by which man will manifest that greed and attain their goals.
@justinlee7902 жыл бұрын
@@ryno4ever433 Ramuh actually works really well to set up Heavensward in that sense, as both narratives deal with the cruelty and greed that lie in the heart of mankind. Like Ramuh, Midgardsormr and Hraesvelgr have been disillusioned with humanity by the time we meet them. We have to prove to them that man is able to rise above his avarice, and that peace between men and the other creatures of the world (in this case, Sylphs and Dragons) isn't just a doomed dream. And we have to prove ourselves to them: not only that we actually do carry the right convictions, but that we have the strength to see them through and _enforce_ the peace we preach.

I feel as if Ramuh knew far more than he led on somehow. Or at least knew something was different about WoL. "Soul without a name" and "Soul fallen from grace" in particular stand out to me given what is known about future events. There's no way they planned this far in advance realistically, but the way it lines up is so perfect. And is basically instructing us on "The Worm" that plagues men and how it must be stopped. Though despite understanding that you're different, you still must face judgement, "Thine own hell" which I would assume is the combat WoL is forced to participate in, and thus with Ramuh as well. Despite this, I think Ramuh understand that WoL will prevail. That they should "Lift thine heavy head and vanquish thy sorrow". Lightning will strike, thunder will roll as storms will always come and go. Knowing that, "Now turn thy gaze ahead and look to the morrow". Struggles are ever prevalent, the next storm will always be upon you, but will soon pass as all do. "Lightning shall strike, thunder shall roll on". Leaving off the desire for WoL be strong and find the strength to push on in spite of all these struggles.
