the man playing Bouvar, that is Bob Simmons who was Connery's regular stunt double and fight arranger for all his Bond films, he also was the figure firing the gun in the gun barrel sequences for the first three Bond films, Thunderball was the first wide screen Panavision format Bond film so there had to be a new gun barrel sequence to fit the format so Connery filmed that one and for ever after it was always the Bond actor who appeared in the gun barrel sequence.

Now the holy trinity of Errol Flynn (Robin Hood), Christopher Reeve (Superman) and Sean Connery (James Bond) are up there together, sitting on a cloud with arms around their shoulders talking about the glory days of cinema. Heaven gets richer while Earth gets poorer. Thanks for everything, Sean. Hope you and Ian Fleming have a nice eternal chat with a endless martini, of course shaken and *not* stirred.

This is one of the best choreographed fights in a Bond film. It might be the best. The only error is the continuity of the flames in the fireplace.

I find this strangely symbolic of Connery finally getting his own gun barrel scene and beating his stuntman who did it before.

@GoldwaterB4 жыл бұрын
@@e3uphoric51 Well, not terrible, but he does wobble. Backfire will do that to you, in that pose, so it's pretty realistic. That's probably why they decided to go with that take.
@e3uphoric514 жыл бұрын
@@GoldwaterB You mean recoil? I don't think a gun firing a blank would do much recoil. I bet Sean just needed to do some squats or practice balance lol or lay off the martinissshh
@GoldwaterB4 жыл бұрын
@@e3uphoric51 Yes, I meant recoil. I was thinking about the Republican inaction on the stimulus when I typed that.
@GoldwaterB4 жыл бұрын
@@e3uphoric51 Yes, I knew he was not shooting a real bullet at the camera. My point was, since recoil will do that to you, Connery's wobble adds to the realism, therefore. Still, it's a difficult move to squat like that and fire a gun, even with blanks. You'd be in an unstable position -- especially if you'd already done several takes like that.

This was an over the top scene with the water but was cool as he don a jet off the building to his Aston Martin. One blunder was when he put the jet pack in the trunk, the hooded didn't latch but when the water came out it was closed , guess the pressure closed it , still cool .

I’m sorry, I’m a Bond fan but I find this film one of the worst. Never understood why so many like it. Boring as hell. Performances phoned in. Aside from the underwater stuff the film looks “dirty”; very contrasty; a “Frankenstein” film. The chopping of frames and bad editing makes the “action” sequences look “Benny Hill” and silly. I’m a heretic, I know.

So if a widow open a car door by itself it proves its a man. come on.
@KorriTimigan9 жыл бұрын
gustav Mendes You really have to understand it's from a different time. It's likely Bond knew the sort of woman he was trying to be, and that's an elderly one likely born in the early 1900's. Upper class and wealthy, so her opening her own car door would simply not be heard of. It'd be a massive slight against her that nobody would offer, and she'd never dream of doing it. That's the sort of person the he was trying to be, Bond knew this and it sent up a red flag when he did something so out of character. Are people like that nowadays? Probably not, no. But 50 to 100 years they absolutely were.
@CynicalBastard5119 жыл бұрын
Sanders/ Warren 2016 What kind of rich widow would open a car by herself when she's paying a man to do the job for her? Besides, the guy was already on his way to open the door for "her" when "she" decided to open by "herself" blowing the disguise completely. Bond is very good at paying attention to the details. The moment he saw that he knew something was up.
