Thunderbirds was the TV show that made me pursue a career in the VFX industry.

Love seeing the 35mm cameras capturing these amazing spectacular shots of Thunderbirds. Also love seeing filming of the scene from "City of Fire" with Scott and Virgil experimenting on a new gas only to be knocked unconscious. Mainly cuz it was actually one of many additional scenes that was added after Lew Grade insisted the episodes be hour long shows instead of half hours. Which resulted in going back to the first several episodes that already been completed as half hour shows and adding new material.

Born in 1959, Stingray was the first TV show I remember and absolute favorite as a kid. I just found it was first aired in 1965 here in the States, and remember watching 1965-1967. I don't remember Thunderbirds, may have seen a few, but I don't think TV Stations regularly carried it in my areas. Throughout the years I'd periodically think about Stingray, never seeing it after 1967, I'm amazed to find these documentaries and TV episodes on KZbin and websites a few days ago.

It's pretty interesting to learn that Derek Meddings had also worked on Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's work beside the miniature effects for the "James Bond" film series.

Great to see this. Amusing style of interview, pretending they are just popping by to interrupt whatever they are up to at the time.

There was also the colour COI film made when Thunderbirds was still early in production and it features a scene with Scott, Virgil and John on a set that never appeared in the series. I liked John and it's a shame Gerry Anderson disliked him so much, he only ever went on one rescue we saw

The scene was stages for the cameras - it wasn‘t a real scene.

I've heard Brian Johnson say that Derek Meddings was never paid for all the incredible design work he did on the Gerry Anderson shows , that he received a general salary and none for his extra work as series designer. Seems unfair , as his work was utilized for all the toy sales based on his work , which must have totaled in the millions of pounds.
