The problem is the thunderjaw is designed for killing things on the ground. So is the stormbird. But the stormbird is up in the air, so it has the advantage.

A lot of its attacks are giant AoE attacks, which are very good at killing and keeping away small targets, not so good against big ones.

Mostly does plasma damage and most machines are not weak to it, Aloy on the other hand, is. But I think we all know what makes it challenging is the fact that when Aloy is being pushed around she takes some time to get back on her feet, the machines barely stumble x)

I’ve used the Thunderjaw & Slaughterspine site in Burning Shores countless times to test their power against each other, here’s my simple understanding - Slaughterspine has a really long plasma buildup for many of its attacks (which are fatal to Aloy), Thunderjaw has a relatively quick attack pattern so it intercepts Slaughterspine’s buildup constantly - hence Tj doesn’t receive much damage normally. But if Ss successfully builds up a plasma charge, 70% of Tj health bar is gone.
