Owned an original ThunderX3, I feel like they're all the same as other gaming chairs so I've moved on completely. The problem is that gaming chairs are made at specific fixed sizes and marketed for aesthetics rather then suitability and comfort. The ThunderX3 is really good for above tall / lanky people but if you're average height or shorter - you're going to have a bad time. Overall I didn't like the forward leaning seat of the ThunderX3 - you're constant slipping from the leather- so the mesh version would be a welcomed improvement. If the slip issues fixed = no more lifting yourself up by the arm-rests and causing rubber to crack and break. Adjustable headrest is a good fix too - the original pillow position was weirdly high and couldn't be adjusted enough. Biggest flaw is it's a fixed seat that's is too far back - I had to be forward to bend my knees comfortably I don't think they will improve this as it's a fixed size chair. So if you're not suited to it - you will be sitting too far forward or sitting incorrectly with your bottom spine forward. This causes back problems and warps the metal base causing the chair starts to lean to the side (happened to 2x warranty replacements). This is what I mean by fixed size for taller people - it all comes down to lack of adjustable positions and suitability for certain people. But it's also the last gaming chair I'll ever buy. Over the years it's just seemed like price range doesn't factor at all when it comes to comfort and quality in the gaming chairs range. Take the time to research ergonomic chairs. As someone who's been burnt by the gaming chair companies and finally starting looking out for quality but affordable office chairs made for extended use - you just need to know what to look for: a mid range priced ergonomic chair with adjustable back height, seat height and tilt with a minimum 5 year warranty. There's decent ones out there and you don't need to get a $1200+ Herman Miller (I mean you can, or even get a second hand half price since they come with a 10 year warranty but it's overkill and overrated especially as competition is getting fierce). Personally I prefer to get a new task chair - looking at the 'Buro Metro' with the aluminium base and arm rests. They're about $100 more then the ThunderX3 Yama1 right now but well worth it - comes with mesh back, adjustable seat height, adjustable seat tilt, adjustable back height and 10 year warranty.

Are you talking about the ThunderX3 or the ThunderX3 YAMA 1?

Thunder X3 and a number of other brands have re-branded this chair. If you want the best version of this chair get the Onex brand instead, They are the original branded chair and tbh make the best version of this particular model of chair. biggest difference is the bottom cushion.
@TheOzTube3 жыл бұрын
that's just what i needed to find out, a comparison to that chair.. so the cushion is better in OneX ? does the lumbar and neck rest lock?

Great review! Nearly 1 year later since you made the review, how is it holding up?
@joelfromaus3 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear you like the review! :D As for how it's holding up, keep in mind I treat my equipment really well but the chair is still in very good condition. Nothing's peeling or coming undone and the cushion is no better or worse than when I first got it. The biggest pet-peeve that's developed is that the base of the seat has a bit of squeaking problem. But that's nothing major, it's really only a problem because I record so often.

Hi! I’m 185cm tall (6’1’’ approx), do you think this chair would be a good fit for me? Cheers,
@joelfromaus4 жыл бұрын
Sure do. I’m 182cm and I’d say it’s designed for people around the 180-190cm height, though due to adjustment it’s not limited to that range.

@@joelfromaus sorry to bother you with this, but do you know the min and max height of the armrests with respect to the seat?
@joelfromaus4 жыл бұрын
Sorry for taking so long to reply. Measuring from the top of the seat to the top of the armrest the adjustment is 180-250mm.
@sebafehlandt4 жыл бұрын
@@joelfromaus Thanks for your reply! I ended up buying it and it fits me good except for the armrests, their top position is a little bit too short for me. I will buy a keyboard wrist rest, cut it and paste it to the arm rests to give me a little more height and padding. Cheers!
