@@theknowsbros8344 well earned after your reviews on Helm and Truman. Hopefully my comment gives you some ammo the next time you need it. We husbands can always use some 😆 They seem to have taken some very good calculated risks before, so hopefully this does well enough to stick around. I was thinking about their Vanguard made in USA boot in the waxed cacao leather, since it seems to be the cheapest way into a well made boot with a woodsman heal. With the challenger being this much more substantial and being within $50 depending on leather choice, that really changes things. Thanks again Mr Bro who Knows.

I like the looks of these things and I’m glad Thursday jumped into a different segment. However if you jumped into the patina thunderdome competition, which is awesome, black is a tough leather color to do it in. Black has to be the absolute worst boot to patina/wear, unless they are only dyed on the top side of the hide, which the they may be.. I’m working three separate pairs of boots right now on my channel, all black…Drew’s loggers, Whites Fultons, and Thorogood 1957. Only the Thorogoods show any wear because they’re not dyed all the way through. And I work all 3 boots extremely hard. Nice channel. You’re doing great!

Their "logger" is just a taller version of their Hero, which does not have the same tall heel as the one you're holding. They do not match the quality or style of the true PNW boots in terms of leather thickness and other options, but they're half the price and you might get them a month or two sooner, etc.
@Highland_PaddyАй бұрын
the sizing and the way the arch support feels is not the same, either. they definitely have more arch support than the Captain or Hero or "Logger", but overall the price is more realistic than the "Logger" and Vanguard. They should have renamed the "Logger" something else and then called THIS the new Logger instead of calling attention to all the reasons why they are still NOT those other boots.
@Highland_PaddyАй бұрын
I don't know who got the email before I did that they bought up three other leather styles already, so I don't know if I'm getting the one pair in the color I want or if I'm stuck with the Grand Canyon one, but overall I think it's OK for a boot that I don't have to baby if I use them thru the winter.
@Highland_PaddyАй бұрын
They're more like half-tracks than tanks maybe. Frank's would likely be way more tanks and I have those White's Rose Anvil Drifter ones that crush my toes a bit...
@Highland_PaddyАй бұрын
Who needs a pull tab on a 6" boot? I guess just because the gusset? Eyelet a nice touch above speed hooks, but too small for proper Logger Knot.
@Highland_PaddyАй бұрын
They're pretty wide if ye go UP half a size. Maybe a smidge TOO MUCH for how PNW are supposed to fit to break in comparatively. And then the cushioned heel vs. the flat, hard toe insole area is odd. Hope they're not doing more damage than good, defeating the point of the arch.

Thursday Boots are sold directly to the consumer, with an online marketing campaign. Social media influencers are paid to shill. Thursday has developed a very loyal market base. "Boot Snobs" will scoff at anything which is not overbuilt in specifications, or extremely expensive. Thursday is not a bad boot. It's about as good as Polo Ralph Lauren, Kenneth Cole, Cole Haan, Hugo Boss, Carlos Santana....... typical department store brands. What Thursday is not, is a boot for construction job sites, logging, industrial use, motorcycle riding, ranching, et cetera. A very good shoe for someone who sits behind a desk. The perfect shoe for sitting in a pew for worship. Thursday has it's place. $200 boots are what you wear with Steve Harvey suits.
@tylerkiziah6430Ай бұрын
I don't think that's true. Thursday's lasts are VERY casual, and really do not look very good in anything but the most casual settings. For men that are looking for a casual boot that will last a very long time I think Thursday's are among the best. As far as logging, industrial work, and motorcycle riding goes, there are boot companies that specialize in making booting for each of these purposes. It doesn't make sense to compare a casual boot to a purpose built boot. It is also worth nothing that purpose built boots tend to look ridiculous when worn doing anything other than the activity that they were built for.

@@馬伕 When compared to other casual shoes, I imagine the Thursday boots will last many order of magnitude longer. I've had a pair of Alden Indy Boots that are not particularly well made going strong for over 15 years. They might not be the highest quality, but I really like the dressier last and when used for their intended purpose they do not fall apart. I own higher quality dress and work boots, and purpose built motorcycle and mountaineering boots, but my favorite boot after years of use is the Alden Indy and for that reason it was well worth the price that I paid for it. I see Thursday the same way. If someone likes the aesthetic, and understands that nature of the boot, they will likely get a lot of value out of them.

Thursdays are built much better than those crap brands 😂 plus other manufacturers that are well regarded don’t use leather insoles.
@chinatownboy7482Ай бұрын
The $200 Thursday Boot is built with a cardboard and foam insole, no midsole, welted to an outsole which is a lesser quality replicate of a better product. They are not any better or worse than a shoe you can find at Kohl's or Wal*Mart. They are comparable to Skechers, Rockport, or an Amazon shoe. It is not the lowest cost boot with a Goodyear welt. Thorogood, Bates, Rocky, Florsheim, Stacy Adams, Carolina, Wolverine, Georgia, and even Sears DieHard shoes sell for under $200 and come with a Goodyear welt. They are not at the same level of quality as higher priced "heritage" style boots. I could buy a comparable quality boot for $100 - $150 from Macy's and other stores at the mall.
@theknowsbros8344Ай бұрын
@@chinatownboy7482 I would disagree with the overall build quality of the traditional Thursday boots, again I don’t think that they are designed for anything other than being a fashion boot (I certainly wouldn’t want to wear a pair of Captains on a job site unless I was just passing through it) but for the most part, since I have at some point owned most of the boots you mentioned, their is a clear delineation in quality and longevity outside of the Thorogood Moc Toes which I owned for a solid 3 years of fairly aggressive manual labor and really held up. I think it’s more of a backlash to Thursdays success and their constant marketing attack on my KZbin viewing pleasure. I appreciate the comment

@@theknowsbros8344 Your impression is that the foam and cardboard footbed, with no midsole, attached to a facsimile sole is good? I don't hate Thursday. But I am not spending $200 on Thursday.
