Congrats! As long as you take care of them then they will be good to last you for some time. I often get comments about people comparing my boots to their own lifestyle and use and I don't believe it is fair. I lived in the city (Sasebo, Busan, Okinawa) for the last ten years and only now I am getting some hard use out of my work boots. I am assuming that they will degrade at a faster rate now that I'm working them hard. The "Captain" is reserved for nice evenings and date with my wife so it will keep on going. Cheers!

Thursday Boots are a near perfect 1st boot. Comfortable from 1st wear, easy to wear w/ jeans or smart casual office wear. Not too rugged, not too elegant. A perfect middle ground so you can save your rugged and elegant boots for their intended purpose.

I totally agree with you. I had a formal (elegant) boots from To Boot New York that I hardly wore because I saved it for wearing suits and such. This is definitely in the middle ground as I wore a ton of Red Wing for working and riding.

The Thursday Captains in Classic Black were my first pair of GYWed boots. My second pair is the Arizona Adobe's. My third pair is the Loggers in Cacao. They make the best boots for a price under $300. So far, my favorite boots are the Logger's in Cacao. The leather is super durable and doesn't crease much. Thanks for your video and I think TBC already addressed this buy the Captains are made in mexico not America. The Logger were though. Great vid!

It’s not like you’re dropping $300 + on a pair of high end boots. Get ‘em on feet, wear on carpet only to see if they fit your style. if you don’t love em you have 30 days to exchange or refund and you’re only out the shipping fee at most. There is no such thing as safe just acceptable risk. And yes, your shoes need to go through the X-ray at the airport because last I checked, evil ppl still find inflicting suffering on the innocent a very effective means to be noticed.

It is absolutely a good idea to have shoes scanned. It's incredibly easy to conceal not only various explosives of ceramic knives in a shoe, but also drugs. Unfortunately, the menacing few have ruined it for the rest of us, but it's really not that hard to take off and put on shoes even if it only protects one person over 25 years. Of course, it could save a lot more.

Nice and honest video with a sensible approach. However Tuesday Captains are not made in USA, they are made in Mexico. Thursday Vanguards, I believe, are the ones that are produced in USA.

I agree w/ all your pros and cons regarding the Captain boots. As far as fit, I would say going a full size down is a more accurate fit. Im a 9.5D and wear a 10D in sneakers. My 1st pair of Captains were a 9.5 and my foot was constantly knocking back and forth against the heel. They are completely unwearable unless I wear super thick wool socks for freezing weather. I wear a 8.5 in RedWing, Clark’s, & Blundstone as all of these brands run big and will start out tight and fit like a glove once broken in w/ zero heel slip. Yes, Everyone seems to have Thursday’s now but it’s fine. It’s a versatile entry level boot just as lesser quality Dr. Martens and Timberland’s in wheat nubuck was the entry but for whole generations.

I love my Captain boots but since I moved back home I wear my Red Wing 1907 a lot more. I still have my Captain boots and sometimes wear it when traveling. I'm sorry I can't remember where I got the motorcycle toy from. I might have scored it from a second hand store. Thanks 🙏 I haven’t really used this one for bike riding. I did a few times onboard the 600rr but the bottom rubber sole kept on getting snagged at the foot pegs. It may just be my foot position. I mainly use the Iron Ranger now when I ride the Harleys. There is a black smudge that appeared on my left boots from shifting.

Hi there, the Thursday Captain that I wore here was Brandy in color when I bought it. It's gotten darker throughout the years and of course even darker at certain angles. This is an awesome pair of boots that I don't mind buying again! Cheers!

Hello, I was wearing the Levi’s 541 that I tapered myself. I recommend slim to skinny fitting jeans from H&M. They use elastane on their jeans and it stretches to make it more comfortable.

I want some boots I can dress up and kick around a bit. Are these too nice to take on something like a hike, dirt? Also did you se the color get darker or lighter as they aged?

In my opinion that this is a good one to have to do that for dressing up and being rugged at times. It depends on the level of hiking you’re talking about. If you’re just going to a few clicks up your backyard somewhere on flat terrain then maybe. I don’t think it will take more than that and you will destroy it. One of the boot reviewers in KZbin experimented with this boots on a hike before. It did alright but sustained a small chip on the leather from that hike. The good thing is, this isn’t terribly expensive expensive! Yes, overtime it has gotten darker. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Thank you for this review, I do want to ask though, these are the regular Thursday Captain boots or the rugged and resilient model? Or are they one and the same? My understanding is the same style "Captain" but the rugged and resilient means the upper of the boot has a tougher leather than the regular captains?

These are the regular and earlier models. The rugged and resilient line has a matte finish. I believe they are the same type of leather. It’s up to your preference and use. I may get one of those next so I can use it while riding. I think they will take the beating better.

I live in finland and here is alot of snow. Does this kind of sloes slips in winter or how gripy is it?

It’s not bad at all. I have worn it in snow but probably not as icy as you’re describing. It is okay to wear from and to your vehicle to the office and back but not full time in the snow.

All soles slip on ice. Vibram however does make a non-slip outsole called the Vibram Ice Grip that you can have your cobbler swap out for you. Look it up on YT to see how it grips to ice.

Yes they are. The color changed a little bit after I applied the leather lotion. Thursday Boot Co. sent me the right conditioner so I’ll be applying that later. These are great looking boots perfect for the city and work in my opinion.

@@UFCandWeed I think you’ll like the brandy. They are such a customer based industry that you can work with them in anything. I used the Kiwi Leather Lotion initially but I think that it is too much for the soft leather they use for the boots. I’ll have to look at the name of the one they sent to me during lunch. I’ve also used the Cobblers’ Choice leather protection and cream. Expensive but works wonders on harder leathers like the ones Iron Ranger used for the 8085 Rough and Tough leather. They were never made in the US. They have been made in Mexico since the founding of the company. Thursday does have their made in the USA line now but I am very happy with their made in Mexico line.
