There's always bands that are right before the zeitgeist that ushers new sounds in. I'd like to think it was Pixies/Nirvana for the 90's and I have no doubt that Thursday will be remembered as that kind of band.

@@fvez_ I re-listened and stand corrected, the verse has some more interesting basslines going on, but I think he's just picking around the power chord shapes of the A and F chords in that part and playing with the space. Mainly, the song just goes between A and F, so those are the main notes the bass is holding down in this song.

One of the greatest emo songs ever written by the greatest emo band. Been probably close to 15 years since I’ve heard this. Best show I ever attended was in San Diego on Halloween with Circa Survive, Thursday and Rise Against. Can’t recall the year.

I'll never forget Thursday playing my community college on Long Island, NY back in like 2003 or 2004? They played in a small room (I def messed my eardrums up being next to the speakers), Geoff gave me a hug and apologized for being sweaty. Such an amazing concert, and he was so humble.

I'm a straight up metal head, and a professional drummer, I've played in death metal bands and doom metal bands all over the country and parts of Europe, and I can say this without any embarrassment, this band was one of my favorite bands back when this album came out, in fact a club owner, and promoter gave me some tickets to see these guys when they toured this album, I sat down with these dudes and bought them a round of drinks, and a round of smoke. Good dudes too all of them were actually surprised a metal head like myself was that into them, they gave me some merch and needless to say I showed these dudes a cool night in my home town. Good times, i was 23 when this album came out, and a seasoned pro in music and drumming, and these dudes were a breath of fresh air rock wise. Just straight up kickass rock.

Honestly if this song isn't considered an all-time great then we have failed as a society. Car accidents are terrible and tragic. I've been involved in a couple of them, fortunately no one was seriously hurt. But it rattles you. And this song perfectly encapsulates the pain you experience when someone you care about is lost to an accident. It's so goddamn poetic, so full of emotion. It's absolutely perfect in conveying exactly what it wanted to convey.

@@No1WillMakeItOutAlive The name of the band was Offset (yes, like the rapper but long before he came around). I took it from the AutoCAD software I used in my drafting class. "Offset" was the most used command. It's also why when we recorded our own album we named the "label" as "blueprint records". We were nothing and quite honestly Thursday wasn't much of anything at the time. Some things never change while others change drastically. lol We played with Thursday at a venue that was in downtown Nashville. I don't remember the name of the place but it was right next door to a gay and lesbian bookstore (we were from North Alabama and don't remember but someone from the area at the time may be able to help). I remember the store because I went in and bought a pride sticker and put it on our guitarists car just to mess with him. However, his Dad was a preacher and found the sticker the following morning before he could find it himself. Needless to say, our guitarist was a little pissed off at our next practice. Those were great days! lol Sorry, I never check my message on KZbin or I would've replied to you 3 years ago. I just found this because I wanted to hear the song again.
