Love your reviews from over here in the states. Very much enjoy your convo style! Learn a lot this way. Like also your message: assuming specs provide a good starting point, but ears on the speakers with one’s own system wins the game. Be that as it may, personally prefer the British brands. Purchased Spendor 4/5’s on faith and love them 🙏🏼

I doubt that very many in the UK have heard Perlisten loudspeakers. They are at all the hifi shows in N America, and I know someone who owns a pair. I’ve only experienced the floorstanders, and have been highly impressed by their dynamics, punch, and clarity. I believe Oracle turntable used a pair in their demo room at Capital Audio fest.

I've had the opportunity to listen to the entire S and R lines of Perlisten speakers, as well as their subwoofers. In my opinion, Perlisten makes excellent speakers for Home Cinema. Unfortunately for Perlisten, they are expensive, and their competition is simply better for most two channel audiophile enthusiasts. To mind comes two brands that are also neutral, quite revealing, and demand quality amplification. Kef (reference and blade), and from Canada, Paradigm Persona line. These lines from KEF and Paradigm can not match the dynamic output of the Perlisten speakers, but they deliver far more musical engagement and better soundstage imaging than Perlisten.😅
@jimfarrell46356 ай бұрын
Sound like speakers which will cramp your listening choices so you end up listening to music the speakers like, rather than what you like. I had a pair of Zingalis like that. I ended up listening to nothing but Scandi Jazz. Also I wonder if these would do well with Purifi Eigentakt Class D amplification. PS. Not my usual thing, but can I suggest Chocolate Chip Trip by Tool as a test track. For soundstage, imaging and bass quality it is fantastic.

It's interesting to hear that a speaker that appears to have been partially aimed at the AV market doesn't work with Guns and Roses. I tendcto associate AV with "dynamic excitement ",so would have thought that heavier stuff would have worked well. Perlisten's stuff is well engineered with good on paper measurements. Their subwoofers have a good reputation in that respect.

Great review as normal but also very entertaining and funny. Love the nod to Chris Frankland who now has valve gear which thirty years back would have been sacrilege. Why not try and get a You Tube interview with him?

Thanks for the review, chaps. Btw that wasn't the MF M8xi which you have reviewed, that was the M8 Encore500 which MF should have stopped selling by now, since they do not really support its software, but apparently they haven't, I assume because they still have stocks of it.

Hello gentlemen. I have a request for a review. Could you get your hands on a Cambridge Audio Azur 851A integrated. Or possibly their matching DAC the Azur 851D. I have heard this combo at a friend's listening room, and came out really impressed. Thank you both for the video. Keep up the good work! It is always a pleasure along with a laugh watching you guys. God bless.

Good Rift. 'Perlisten' is a strange name. Makes me think of these televisions for the hard-up which had coin boxes on the back into which the rental money was paid, otherwise no show. (One for the younger readers...)

😂 Sorry-perhaps they should change the name to Rift for when they have a slight disagreement with each other.

Honda MTX200? To my shock I find that it's a two-stroke. Despite a fanatical attachment to the Otto cycle, Honda occasionally turned out two-cycle engines just for the hell of it. Still seems like an aberration, like a Class D Naim amplifier.
@MrVinylista6 ай бұрын
Yes, it was an early Honda 2-stroke (1984), but a very good one. Liquid cooled with Honda's ATAC power valve - 33BHP from a trial bike that weighs less than a tractor tyre, or something like that!

I remember you telling me that when I made a comment it sounded like a Friday night coming home from the pub lol and it was. The 8-12K market is saturated with stand mounts way better than these and the head of the crop is probably Borresen Acoustics Z1 Standmount Speakers. It does bass it does imaging that only an electrostat can do as well as the ethereal stuff. It's like being drunk and not believing what you're hearing. I usually find that a product no matter what price that says it can do all usually does nothing well.. Tea for two and a cream bun anyone???
