This is potentially one of those situations like asbestos and smoking. It is crazy how widely prescribed this drug is getting when they don't know how or why it's producing thyroid cancer. I'm obese myself so I understand my own difficulty to control my eating but I'm left thinking that if I would rather risk these side effects than to look for other ways to control my eating then I'm insane.

Right but you staying obese you have a higher chance of developing cancer. Losing weight actually lowers your risk. The risk of getting cancer from this drugs is much lower than if you stay obese which is what most people do. The vast majority of people never lose the weight.

I’m not a doctor, but I imagine that statistically speaking - certain common comorbidities of obesity (hypertension? T2D?) are probably more likely to kill us than a rare and exotic side effect. Just saying, people hear the word cancer and get scared, but there are other health issues to worry about too.

That is a fantastic point and very true!

Shouldn't that warrant genetic testing for adopted and one parent families? I'm on this because it does not matter what I eat, my pancreas is broken.....think we should find out why that is, but instead I'm on Ozempic. I have Hashimoto's and it's historic on my maternal side, but no idea what my paternal side includes.

We have to develop an exit plan. I’m on Mounjaro. I got off for 1 week. My body felt better but the eating was out of control. In one week. I gained 7 pounds. I couldn’t control the eating. I take a shot every Monday. This past Monday. I just took a shot. I’m doing a detox to recover from the gain. But I’ve got to develop an exit plan. I don’t plan on being on these shots for a year. But after 12 more weeks. I’m going to have to take another break.

So I have had a full thyroidectomy of papillary with focullar variant. No MTV or family history. Would this be considered safe for me for weight loss?

Me too. I took it for 2 weeks and then stopped. I have pcos and other hormonal problems, so it would be good to loose weight but I just can't.

There is no magic pill for weight loss. Healthy eating and exercise is the best medicine. Only side effect is feeling better. 🤷🏻♂️

Guessing being a thyroid cancer survivor means ozempic is not a good idea

Depends on the type of thyroid cancer

I’ve been on Ozempic for three months and I am physically sick for three days after injection. This is why you lose so much weight, I can’t eat for three days every week

I would recommend follow up with your doctor! Those are some nasty side effects and the medication needs to be stopped.

@@theofficialdrdan my mother doesn’t have side effects and I voiced my concerns about the thyroid cancer and she was offended and said my mom was going to be on it indefinitely.
