I wish I could take Ozempic but it caused me so many digestive issues. I had to go to the hospital. It caused me to develop gastroparesis. I do notice I'm less hungry with Trulicity and I don't have severe constipation which leads to diarrhea and vomiting.

I have been on Trulicity for 2 years, after 20 years of type 2 diabetes that I had tremendous difficulty controlling, and then got completely out of control during the Covid lockdown and put on a lot more weight and I was taking oral meds, and tons of insulin both basal and short acting. Trulicity has helped me not only get control of my diabetes, and it has helped me lose weight, and helped me partially reverse my diabetes, but now I can't get my Trulicity because so many doctors are prescribing this drug to non-diabetic patients so that can look good at the beach this summer. I am terrified that as soon as I can no longer get my prescription refilled for this medicine, that I will start gaining weight and my a1c that has been normal for the last year, will start going back up.

Great unbiased review! Like how you did the blood sugar comparisons first and even mentioned there was possibility of biases in favor of ozempic. But you definitely stayed clear of showing favor towards any one drug and stuck with the facts.

It's such a shame we don't have someone like you Dr Dan in Western Australia, I have PCOS and am overweight , have been trying to get on Ozempic for the past 18months but our Australian Goverment restricts how much is in the country so for weight loss patients it's almost impossible to get hold off , it makes me just want to give up as I find you are penalised and looked down upon for being overweight, even though I try to eat healthy and exercise . Love your videos on Ozempic etc and hope one day maybe we have it more available in Australia but wouldn't hold my breath. Disheartening to say the least. Thanks and keep up the good work. 👍

I'm on week two of Ozempic .25 and aside from mild sour stomach and occasional sulfur burps, I've been doing very well. I don't obsess over food and am frankly worried about going up to .5 as I'm rarely hungry. I make myself eat small portions of balanced, nutritious food (lots of veggies) but any advice on this would be helpful. Thank you!
@theofficialdrdan
@theofficialdrdan 3 жыл бұрын
That is fantastic here! It does help to create freedom around food. I would keep doing what you are doing. Slowly increase your portions - focus on protein and veggies. Eventually it will get easier to eat more to ensure you are properly feeding your body. Don't feel like you need to rush on increasing the dose you can stay at 0.25mg once weekly for longer!

Try to stay .25 until you see weight loss, I didn't see any so my dr went from .5 to now 1mg to up my weight-loss, your sugars will go down. If you aren't eating enough please may I suggest chia seed pudding or protein shake as a meal or protein substitute I find it fills me and I know I'm getting my macro nutrition.

Good study, but it did not mention or test the higher doses of Trulicity (3.0 and 4.5mg) that got approved in 2020. Probably because the study’s from 2016. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Higher dose Ozempic (2.0mg) also got approved well after its main release, but not until after this vid (2022). Point is, both drugs are capable of greater results than the study shows. Probably greater side-effects too. 8:14 BTW, Dan’s cavity search analogy is genius. 😳 😆

Been on trulicity for 4 months (diabetes treatment). I did not find that it suppressed appetite, I did not lose weight - on the contrary, for the first week I found myself binge-eating, constantly extremely hungry. No side effects for me. Lost not a single half-kilo, and it did not lower my hba1c. Lots of hype, but it did nothing for me. Because it was at times hard to source, due to people prescribing it as a slimming drug off-script, I was quite happy to go back on Metformin & Galvus. *don't believe the hype* is what I take away from that experience. If it works for YOU, great, but I expect there will be others like me who get no benefit.

Hi, can I ask which drug leads to more weight loss and which would you recommend: Ozempic 1mg or Saxenda 3mg? It seems that our GP could also prescribe Ozempic to my dad even if he’s not full blown diabetic. His BMI is 40 so I assume it’s too late for something like Mysimba. And from what I googled it could be much cheaper, maybe 3x cheaper to be on Ozempic 1mg vs. Saxenda 3mg. In my own (possibly flawed) search the weight loss seemed roughly the same. Also, in my mind I’m thinking future switch to Wegovy would be smooth. (not yet approved in EU). But officially the adverts you see here etc. are for Saxenda, which makes sense as it is still the latest “official” weight loss medication. Are there other considerations I’m missing except the daily vs weekly application? Thanks.
@theofficialdrdan
@theofficialdrdan 3 жыл бұрын
Yes you are correct. Ozempic 1mg is more potent than Saxenda 3mg daily. Not only based on the literature but also based on clinical experience. The 1mg once weekly of Ozempic is cheaper. However, when Wegovy comes out and the dose increased to 2.4mg once weekly the price will likely be similar to what Saxenda is now.
@ondrej1893
@ondrej1893 3 жыл бұрын
@@theofficialdrdan That’s actually great given the 15+% weight loss on Wegovy. Maybe I’ll try the “off-label” Ozempic for dad. I don’t have high hopes for him following basic healthy lifestyle😀 but I see people losing on these medications anyway. I’m not even sure “diet” is necessary. It surely helps but it kind of seems like a moral position from the past. Doesn’t it kind of happen automatically with fulness and other central effects or side effects after dietary mistakes? I see youtubers on ozempic/wegovy admitting they really didn’t change their diet or were lazy for a gym and the weight still comes off. In the past dad did keto and actually went from 128 to 107 kg and then yoyoed back to 132 kg, so he was able to stick to a regime.

My starting dose on the Ozempic is going to be 1mg, is that normal becuase I was already on Trulicity so I can have a higher starting doese of the Ozempic then normal? Given the GLP1 positive effect on markers of metabolic syndrome, is it often necessary to modify blood pressure, lipid or other medication, or is the effect rather mild?🙂
@theofficialdrdan
@theofficialdrdan 3 жыл бұрын
It really varies person to person how much those conditions are affected by the individuals weight. Some people their comorbid condition can resolve almost entirely with weightloss via GLP1 therapy and for other people there is no change as their condition is more driven by genetics or some other factor - I would say this is the minority though.

@theofficialdrdan
@theofficialdrdan Жыл бұрын
That isn't true. And if it was trulicity 1.5mg weekly would be more potent them ozempic 1mg weekly. And that isn't the case. The amount of drug in a dose (mg in this case) can't be used to compare potency or effectiveness between drugs. It comes down to how the drug acts and is metabolized in the body - the pharmacokinetic and dynamic properties of it.
