Hi all, I'm struggling with my calculator and hope someone can assist me. Every time I try to access to the fraction entry screen by pressing 'ALPHA + Y=', it takes me to the Plot screen instead. I've tried resetting it multiple times, but the problem remains. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have the TI-84 Plus

on newer TI- 84 Plus CE you can hit alhpa and the button directly to the right of alpha the link button to get a fraction faster

@@mr.allenmath Honestly I just dug it out cause I haven’t used it in years and I figured I could help a friend with their college math. Played around with it like it was a game and I honestly had fun figuring it out again after all these years. I started doing finance on it with the finance/payments apps. Super cool stuff! Honesty the most fun I’ve had in a few days since it was so new to me. 😄

Casio has a dedicated fraction button on most of its model and other features right in front so we can save time accessing them. They at least know and care about the convenience of their consumer.

Newer TI-84s have the fraction button as a second option for the variable key. Easier, but not a dedicated key. I think they figure fraction can by done with division as well, so why waste a key on it.

Mine does not show an horizontal bar on the fraction when going for option #1. Instead it shows a forward bar, and it does not work as a normal division. How to fix it? Its a ti-84 plus version mp55.

I can code in assembly, yet still don't understand the difference between the 83 plus and 84 plus. Except for the spec bumps and usb port.

Pretty much what you mentioned is the difference from what I can tell. The “math print” is nice, exponents look like exponents, you can make fractions, etc.

are you looking to get a decimal? If you type in 2 then square root and plug 2 in, it’ll automatically multiply it out for you!

You have better grammar than some of my students 😂 all good! And as for your fraction issue, do you have an 83 or an 84? The 83s don’t do it. If it’s an 84, hit mode and see if you’re in “classic” or “mathprint”

Click mode, make sure you’re in “math type” (I think that’s what it’s called) and not in “classic”

You’ll have to do the old fashioned way, a division sign! Make sure to put parenthesis around numerator and around denominator (individually) if there are any operations in them
