How long do the batteries last? I don't need to create graphs, so would the TI-36X Pro be the best option for my needs? Alternatively, if considering just scientific calculations, would the TI-89 Titanium be the superior choice?

I've had my TI-89 Titanium since 2006 and it's still going strong, I love it! I'm running an emulator of it on my phone these days, which I use numerous times almost every day. I absolutely love having my trusty 89Ti in my pocket at all times😊

I use ti89-simulator.com . You can install it as an app by clicking ‘share’ and then “Add to Home Screen.”

@@JohnUsp if you don't need graphing capability, algebra/calculus/etc. solvers then the 89 is definitely overkill. The 36 is likely more than enough calculator for your needs. The batteries last ages, and if you go for a common model used in schools there should be plenty of used ones for sale if you want to save some money.

Best calculator ever, beside playing super mario and starwars i even wrote C and ASM programs on PC and compiled with tigcc for the calculator. The C lib for this beast is some of the best software ive ever seen in my life. Had Ti89 since 2001 and titanium since 2004.

i got mine in 2008. still use it. got me through trigonometry, calculus, advanced calculus, matrix algebra (really special this one), statistics, chemistry, physics, thermodynamics, quantum physics, differential equations, mathematical modeling. and the graphing allows you to solve anything, with "brute force" if necessary. is there anything out there equal or better than this? i want to give my smart nephew something kick-ass.

The only calculators that I have that I consider are better than this are 1. TI-nspire CXII CAS 2. TI Voyage 200 The TI Nspire CXII has very similar functionality to the TI 89 but has the advantages of a color screen and rechargeable battery as well as some improvements to graphing, geometry, and file sharing. However, I prefer the TI 89 because the TI 89 family has a way better programming language and a much less tight ecosystem. The nspire also requires you to use menus in order to access many of the functions, while the TI 89 can enter them with just a few keystrokes. The Nspire CAS can be used on the SAT/PSAT. On the other hand, the TI Voyage 200 has all of the functionality of the TI 89, but adds a full qwerty keyboard and a huge screen. It is my personal favorite calculator I own! HOWEVER, it cannot be used on the SAT, PSAT, AP, or ACT tests. I actually write tons of programs on the Voyage 200 and then transfer the programs to my TI 89 to use on tests.

There are several apps that are more powerful. HP makes a very powerful graphing calculator. Casio has a few clones. The greatest drawback of the ti-89 titanium is speed. It is painfully slow. But the emulator on the phone is much faster while being the same otherwise.

Which graphic calculator easy and user-friendly?
@mcgcubingАй бұрын
I would recommend the TI-84 Plus CE as a good, user-friendly option for a graphing calculator. While it does not have all of the features of the TI-89 or TI-89 Titanium, it is very fast and intuitive to use. It also has a color screen and a rechargeable battery!

I actually have no idea about the battery life on this calculator… 😅 Because I use it on exams, I change the batteries very often. As for your second question, I wouldn’t recommend this calculator for scientific function only. The real reason that most people would choose this calculator is because of the algebra functions, so if you don’t care about algebra or graphing, go with a TI-36X Pro. I really like the TI-36 as well! 😊

@@JohnUsp Yes its superior without graphing because it has CAS and you can add functions with TI-BASIC or create super fast functions for it in C with your PC

@@66hats Interesting. But, just comparing the "scientific" feature (without CAS), then, they match? or TI-89T is still better even in only scientific?

@@JohnUsp No of course its better because you can see all your steps really easily and there are more scientific functions than any other calculator and if a function is missing you can program it yourself or download it. Just make sure your exam allows it
