Hi, I live in Atlanta zone 8, and it's definitely warm and humid. I overwatered one last year in a pot, and this year I bought two more (trees) and one of them just started shriveling the inner leaves and dropping lots of green leaves too. With a soil moisture tester, it wasn't dry two inches down, but I went ahead and watered it. It's getting direct hot 90 degrees sun from noon till 4:30. The other one is still doing okay with the direct sun from 2:30-5:30. I have several holes in the pot, and it drains very well, but I don't know if I should be keeping it moist instead of letting it dry out? I don't have any yellow leaves. Should I move it to a shady place? I grow a lot of annuals in containers and a couple of Tacoma Stans yellow bells which are very easy. Thanks.

@@WalkingbytheSpiritAlways , In my experience and in my humid climate, it’s extremely prone to root rot. It seems to prefer being grown in poor and excessively drained soil; think gravelly bonsai type soil. I know the lady in the video says use peat moss but in my climate peaty soil would be disastrous for this plant.

So I have had in the ground for 3 years a Tibouchina silverleaf or sometimes called grandiflora. It gets to be 6-7 feet tall and 5' wide but it has NEVER bloomed. Can you suggest what I should do please.

Hi, Thanks for your video. I was wondering about if they could take partial sun. So my question now is like others have asked, but for some reason I can't see your answers. I bought a tree that has lost a lot of leaves since I planted it in a container about a month ago. It does have some new ones starting though, so is this transplant shock? I just bought a second one, and I would like to help this one not lose so many leaves. They get direct sun from 12-4. It's a bit hard on the watering because of rains. We got 2 inches in one thunderstorm today. Any advice on the container size? Thanks.

Can this plant be growing and flowering well if planted in the equator and in equatorial lowlands???
@Homemakr7 ай бұрын
Tibouchina can grow vigorously and produce abundant flowers in equatorial lowlands. Proper care, such as ensuring good soil drainage and occasional fertilization, will further enhance their growth and flowering potential.

@@Homemakr I've planted this plant once and have problems with its difficulties to have lush leaving and profuse blooming, The leaving and flowering had been always meager. I live in equatorial lowland, BTW. The ones planted in highland not far from where I live, I notice, manage to grow lushly and flowering fairly abundantly.

Hi Angie, Thank you for watching.😊. I think Overwatering could be the issue or the soil is deficient of essential nutrients.

Hai, Pls Comment. I have this type of Plant in my house which their Flowers look like similar but My plant Leaf is big round oval shape and soft. I think its Tibouchina Heteromalla. I don't know its correct name. I think this plant has so many names and different variety species Like Tibouchina Urvilleana, Pleroma Urvilleana, Melastoma. Etc I think this flowering Plant in this video is Tibouchina Urvilleana.this plant leaf is different to my plant. Actually my plant is grown up and put some buds on nowadays.but its didn't yet starts to fowering.? Why? Can you please suggest to Tricky methods and precautions taken for faster flowering and flowering too many flowers in the plant.?
@Homemakr2 жыл бұрын
Hi Harikrishna, Sorry for late reply. You must feed your plant with Potassium rich fertilizer for it to bloom heavily. if the soil is rich in sodium then the plant leaves grow lush big but not much flowering. whereas Potassium rich fertilizer will help produce more flowers. Thank you.

My plant is flowering but the leaves keep falling off...I know my soil is nutrient sufficient since I use chicken poop fertlizer and watered it everyday in the morning..I live in humid country..Why does it fall off?
@Homemakr2 жыл бұрын
I am not sure whether your plant is in the ground or a pot. If its in the pot then might be overwatering your plant. and as you mentioned that you live in a humid country. Overwatering can cause leaf lose. Also chicken poop fertilizers are organic fertilizers which take time to decompose in the soil to release nutrient ions. Until that time, your plant is actually nutrient deficient. In that case you might need to add some fertilizer which is readily absorbed in the soil such as any liquid fertilizer like seasol etc.
