Those tubes the percussionists are swinging around are really hard to keep going for minutes like they do here. We played this my senior year of highschool in my wind ensemble and I got to (had to?) play one of them. I'm not the strongest in upper body strength, but even the other two more muscular guys had trouble keeping it going. These guys seemed to do it rather flawlessly, and kept composure as well. Major props!!

I always find myself coming back to this piece every few months or so. I was a saxophone player in high school marching band, for my senior show a few years back our composer took inspiration from the first movement of Angels in some of our music and incorporated the very recognizable melodies all throughout the show. listening to this brings me such an unexplainable feeling of happiness, it reminds me of being a dorky high school kid and just having the best times with my friends. we would listen to this exact recording over and over at lunch during band rehearsal and discuss how we could work to make our music better. marching band was one of the best things in my life and I miss it so much. this piece will always have a special place in my heart. thank you, Frank Ticheli.

Our band played this song but we didn't have the pipe organ. The pipe organ makes the song.

The organ is only doubling the brass parts where it plays (and I have played the organ part).
