Ticket to Ride is one of my favorite “intro to complicated games” games. It has strategy elements but isn’t as frustrating as other strategy/resource gathering games.

Finally, a game I know! And I know it well. When I started going to local game nights years ago, it was the one I really got into and had to buy for myself. It was a game I played with my family on Thanksgiving, and it was something of a victory that I was able to get my ex to play it with me. She beat me by ten points, and I was thrilled about that. I had two separate friends who insisted on playing Ticket to Ride whenever they came back to Sacramento for a visit. Who would guess a railroad game would be so universally loved?! Oh, and I got my own Beatles inspired song for the game: "I got Ticket to Ride / I got Ticket to Ry-hi-hide / I got Ticket to Ride / Come on, let's play!"
