Though Google bears some responsibility for the poor battery life, Qualcomm are the main culprit. Their watch SOCs are horrible.

I think it's more about the display technology. Watches should have memory LCDs, not OLEDs. I've had a Galaxy Watch for a few months and I'm thinking about selling it and getting a Garmin 245.

Seriously, I miss my old wearOS watch for the bigger app selection and Assistant, but my Galaxy Watch just does laps around it in every other way that I honestly don't miss it. The battery is better, the UI is better, the hardware is excellent, and you don't have all the irksome bugs that you get with Wear. By this point, I don't even know about Google anymore. It seems like every time I buy into one of their ecosystems it is just riddled with frustrating problems that are never addressed.
@vinnypiazza48515 жыл бұрын
It's true but I can't blame them tbh they didn't have much reason to focus on wearables for the longest times and even the SD 3100 isn't even technically designed for smart watches, it's essentially an older chip repurposed for them. I'm sure better chips are gonna come for smart watches that are likely to very quickly make current watches seem worthless in comparison rather soon

As for the wear os is quite a big waste. As for the fact that the ticwatch pro 4g / lte 2020 setting is equivalent to a PhD, it doesn’t really make it necessary for me. I'm currently looking at how to put another operating system on it because it's a disaster.

I agree with your analysis Michael. First, I wish Mobvoi didn’t use the Military grade durability for the Watch. Most people don’t need that and it gives it a really ugly blocky, plastic look. Second, I find it ironic that Mobvoi has abandoned the tickle strip, especially given that Samsung seems to have adopted that with the Watch Active 2. Rather than LTE, I wish Mobvoi would have invested in more uses for the LCD screen. For example, you should be able to use the LCD screen with the exercise and GPS activities. That would have really improved battery life and it’s much easier to see in bright daylight. 1-2 days seems standard and the usual disappointing for Wear OS

Really? I feel the other way. Having no Google Assistant on the Gear S3 does suck (I am ok without it though), but in terms of wearing and appreciating it as a watch, I love my Gear S3 Classic much more than either of the Wear OS watches I have, because I feel like I'm wearing an actual watch. How sad is it that a three-year-old watch has way better battery life and much better always-on display than watches that just came out? It's really sad. The always-on watch faces for Wear OS are currently a joke compared to the ones on the S3.

The continuing lack of rotating crown in any Mobvoi Wear OS Watch is the thing that has stopped me buying one already and I agree that knurling on the top button is a bit of sneaky “false advertising” even if they didn’t advertise it, otherwise what the heck purpose does it serve? A tactile difference in low light to aid one in determining which button is on top and which is bottom? I wonder if they were considering it and only left it out at a very late date, after tooling for hardware was already locked in? As such, Leaning very much toward the new Fossil Gen 5 which - for the first time EVER in Wear OS Watch model history - appears to not have left any significant feature out of the mix! I know, I couldn’t believe it either, but it’s all there so if you want further suggestions for Watches to review, I e is wholeheartedly for the Fossil Gen 5! But yes, I have to say I finally just couldn’t get the TicWatch Pro. It is close, so close as to feel remorseful - but maybe they’ll do it with the 3rd version of TicWatch Pro (ahem, Rotating Crown!!! And 3100 for the 3rd version is a must, giving the ultimate combination of modes, as I do want the ability to have a better always on experience at times (work, gym, etc). The Mobvoi Screen is slightly but appreciablely bigger and looks better than Fossil’s even with the LCD overlay (in this newer version version anyway) as the Fossils all have an annoying and pointless screen rim of non displayable screen (or non screen display) for a few mm’s around every screen which is the only negative I’m thus far aware of. But would love your expert opinion and experience with the device, and thanks muchly for this review!!! The polish and detail is much appreciated!!!

I love my Galaxy Watch (not the active), more n more after Wear OS watches' reviews. OneUI on Tizen is just amazing and buttery smooth. Be it the watch faces, the music controls, connectivity, activity tracking, changing slides with the rotating bezel (yup, I give a lot of presentations) and most of all the 4 day battery life with workout. The S-Health Android app sucks but that is easily solvable.

I still don't understand why there should be so many fitness features on the smartwatch models. Many users will not need it and just want a watch with payment, messages and phone functionality when their real phone is not within reach. GPS is also only needed when it is close to the paired mobile. It would save a lot of space for bigger batteries. And more efficient use of charge.

Sure, my wife says “why do you need to spend $XXXXX on a watch when you can just use your phone?” Well, there’s no explaining it other that “I’m a watch guy.” And if you’re not, that’s cool. I work in an area that my watch apparently has difficulty receiving a signal in. My phone does not have this issue. I decided to test if switching from the cell's number to the watch number would help and it did. I could reply to text messages I'd previously received on the watch number but on the phone's number, when I touched the reply arrow I continued to receive the "you are offline" message. I do not want to have to give out another phone number to people. They shouldn't need to have to decide which number to reach me on depending if I'm at work or not. What's going on here? For what it's worth, friends with the Samsung Galaxy and Apple 4G LTE watches do not have the same issues in my building when using their phones numbers. I'm disappointed and close to giving up on the TicWatch. I have only one need from a watch, to send and receive calls and texts while at work where I am unable to have my cellphone with me. Fitness tracking, music playing, and things like traffic and weather info are useless to me in a watch.
