To no one's surprise, we had the exact same experience with this series hahah. I hadn't even realised how invested I'd become until I found myself getting misty-eyed along the way. And then that epilogue... UGH my heart! You should definitely read Barker's other works if you haven't already, he is just so good. And I think The Book of Astea by Zammar Ahmer, The Risen Kingdoms series by Curtis Craddock and Dream of Death City by PJ Nwosu are very similar in vibes despite having completely different premises.

@@bookschocaholic Yeah his works are different from each other in premise but there's just a certain 'je ne sais quoi' to his storytelling that makes all his works stand out from the crowd for me 🤩
