In reality, there is no historical debate regarding Marco Polo. In Croatia they invented this "fairy tale" to make Korcula more attractive for foreign tourists, it is about the embezzlement of Italian cultural heritage. Marco Polo was Italian, although at the time Italy as we know it now did not exist yet (born in Venice to a rich family of Venetian merchants in 1254). In addition, both he and his family are mentioned in some Venetian treatises of the time. Moreover, the house that in Korcula is considered "his birthplace" was built about 200 years after his death .... That said, Korcula remains a wonderful town and the island is truly one of the most beautiful in Croatia. My family and I went there last month and it is a destination that we recommend.

Interesting, we did hear something about this debate. Crazy how history gets a little re written along the way sometimes 😅 you’re absolutely right though it is a wonderful little town and so beautiful!

What super content! Beautiful old town. Bell tower looked a bit scary, steep high & clostrophobic for me & oh those bells! 🤣but those views! Wow! You chose a really super spot for lunch too! Pleased for you but Olives still haven’t appealed to my palette!!! That beach....perfect end to a perfect day! FAB! Great drone shots as always. Thankyou for sharing. I Thoroughly enjoyed it all. What a fun road trip!! The drive there and the island itself looks absolutely gorgeous! Nice that you can just show up and get tickets there. Makes for an easy and fun day trip ☺️ WOW! We’ll definitely keep this old town in mind because we’d love to explore Croatia as soon as we can get over to Europe! ♥️ the panoramic views from the bell tower was especially beautiful! Worth the defining bell ringing still 😂

First and foremost, I love Marco Polo, read his diary in college and loved it. Love road trips! the scenery from the tower is amazing, worth the climb! The bell must be so loud from there, woof. Your lunch view is amazing, i think its a powder juice (tang I believe?). I didn't know that it wasn't easy to find a sandy beach in Croatia. Beautiful shots guys, glad you enjoyed the beach!

We loved almost everything about Croatia, except that most of the beaches are pebbly, but there are a few beautiful sandy ones if you know where to look ☺

I love when cities are really helpful for tourists. "Oh they are moving" 😂 Those staircases were so steep an narrow - but a great view at the top. My hubby would not be able to make it with his knee so I'd have to do it for both of us. Too funny about the olives - I love olives and those pizzas looked really tasty. Everywhere you look there the scenery is so beautiful! Love all the sea views. Croatia is definitely on my future list of places I want to go.

Hey guys, we are happy to explore another island with you. The view from the bell tower was amazing..and I liked that you can be up there when the bell actually rings! 🫒 Welcome to adulthood Craig 😆 it is kind of weird how they take a while to grow on so many people. Ouch! That reef must have been sharp 😬 thank goodness for the ice 🍨 nearby!

The little tower behind the little church at ¨Marco polo's house¨ (13:59) was the actual part of his house , and the ruin attached to it is the main house itself , that's currently in the renovation status. Little tower is accessible for tourists and it's 25hrk to enter and have a view also :) Thank you for this wonderfull video and i wish you safe trips!
