The FCC makes it very hard to get the application that is needed to get a license so you can operate the radio. Good thing the radio(s) operate fine without a license.

Cars operate just fine without a license too but don't get caught. Same applies for radios.

I just got the Baofang UV-5RM I'm very interested in the Bluetooth adaptor you are talking about. Right now I'm looking to get licensed but as of now I can't find the link to get the license from the FCC.

Are you asking about Ham license or GMRS? I can help you with the ham process. As for GMRS, you will need to look elsewhere.

Can we still program our radios where we will not accidentally transmit on emergency channels?

Depends on the radio but keep in mind, as Hams, we are responsible to stay in band regardless of equipment.

Is there any other (open source) software that works with this BT programmer or with with TD-H8 bluetooth programming wireless interface? I haven't had much luck with Odmaster. It makes my device reboot if I login. It's okay if I skip the login, but of course I can't use any of the account access features. Not very happy with it in general.

Not that I am aware of. I wish it would work with Chirp but so far no luck there. I have had no issues with ODMaster but I at just be lucky.

their "cut-authority agreement" is WILD if you read it all, I'm sitting here with mine for 3 days trying to decide if I WANT to plug it into my modded units

Not familiar with that particular HT but I cannot say I'm surprised as DMR radios are certainly different animals than I think this was designed for. All of the DMR radios I have tried required special cables and programming software.

if it's possible to use the BL-1 (2.0) to connect your radio to your cellphone and use aprsdroid ?

No, this only works as a bluetooth programmer. Basically replaces a cable and software and allows programming from a phone.

we need the community to teardown the code for this .apk, and then do what they love doing with our IP, and reverse engineer an ACTUALLY functional and useful software frontend without the Chinese supervision, control, "consequences"... I'm just skilled enough to know I'm probably not the right guy, but WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY

@@houseofhamradio I know a handful of guys that write the best fw for the Flipper Zero and I'm in a bunch of Discords with guys who code all sorts of stuff for all the hardware I've accumulated, and I myself can code somewhat, but like you said the RIGHT PERSON could do it hella fast if you're not interested in connecting to a Chinese HAM forum thing... as cool as it could be, I do not like most of the TOS, and I can find transceiver and repeater freqs on my own.
