I’m from Virginia USA. I love watching you and Brockstone videos. I’m a master electrician and plumber. I do a lot of carpentry and masonry work. I just want to say thank y’all for the videos I layer a porcelain patio with a 3-1 mix and made a slurry mix with a concrete bonding agent mixed with straight Portland. Mainly because they don’t sell that I’ve ever seen paver primer. It worked very well. I would like to post a picture on your comments to see what you think about it. Thank you again sir

Hi TB! At 29:50 "Can't tuck one there as it's dry from yesterday". I'm using the Vite system on the project I'm doing at the moment and what I've started doing is leaving a 20+ mm slot under the tile on the exposed sides empty if that makes sense. I lay the concrete bed and tile as you do and then clean out the slot on the two exposed edges with the trowel. Then when I put an adjacent tile in I push the new concrete under the already laid tiles in the gap I've left. That means that I can always put in the white clips even under tiles I laid a day or two ago.The concrete is also interlocked which might help but not sure.

My daughter wants me to start on her small patio area with porcelain tiles however she has a step erecting that needs building up. Do I do the steps first or the garden patio first then the steps? I’d say build the patio first and build as close as you can to the step then go from there as for design . Most likely less cutting as you can build to the size patio you’ve done up to tiles you stopped of at 👍🏴

Sbr would be better than pva just prime the concrete first and the back of the tile. Thinner bed is fine with concrete 👍🏴

Great job. How deep is your mortar bed? I may need to make mind about 50-60 mm in some places but I'm afraid that's too deep. Would still fall below the damp course but would that deep be okay?

Loved the video. Laying 36sqm of porcelain this week. With the dead man slab, how long do you have before the mortar underneath starts to set? Do you use any plasticiser in your mix?

Always a squirt of fairy liquid and it’ll be easy to lift up the following day still without the primer but move it as you need then prime and stick 👍🏴

You could if you wanted it would still stick but not the type sand particles you want as building sand is more Circular and better used by bricklayers sharp sand is more angular and locks better so they say who ever they are ?? 👍🏴

Regular concrete blocks are fine and I normally use Marshalls primer as it doesn’t dry out to quick but has to be a cement primer. Can use sbr and cement mix also but that drys very quick 👍🏴

Never heard of Soakaways, are those special to the soil conditons in the UK? I don't think it would work in Australia, we've got too much clay and sandstone, so we always discharge the water to another area. If there's any landscapers in Australia who knows something, please educate me :) (I'm an Australian plumber)
