@MrTieDye

thank you and the black is a mix of Raven,New and Better Black all from dharma... I pour all of my black powders together into one jug and then use it to make my black dye, and no this black was not thickened as I wanted it to soak in some ... the thick black dye I use mostly for doing outline on my image designs... or to 'paint' just the tops of the creases if I want very thin lines on a spiral of something like that

So. I went to the Target and got some.100% cotton tshirts. Im not sure what we did wrong, if it was the concentration of soda ash, or if I mixed the dye wrong, or if my shirt was too wet, or if it's just a thin shirt, but the colors do Not look as vibrant as yours always do. @MrTieDye 4 жыл бұрын
yes the zig zag is the same, but with this one I was doing a looser tie so I used kite string, but yes you can tie it with sinew also ... but the fold is a little different, with the airplane fold, many of the layers are folded in together.... with this one, I have the edges all folded separately so when you add the black dye, it is getting on all of the edges so it makes the design more even with the black dye

yes, the sinew if pulled tightly will give you some white lines in the design also... I have done it both ways, and I will let it dry completely before I dye it

In the first section you have a very dark shirt on, what pattern is that?
@zoannpolicky9846
@zoannpolicky9846 3 жыл бұрын
I made this shirt and, unfortunately, the black on the edges ran too much in one section (which was all black) and I didn’t get all the nice black lines. What about using thickened black on the edges that all come together?

Can you please list every color you used for this stained glass t shirt? It's really hard to tell in the videos between oranges, pinks and reds or what exact colors you are using. :(.

I used Lemon Yellow, and darker yellow I mixed myself by adding some orange to some yellow, Deep Orange, Fuchsia, and I think that is Turq, Plum, and Bright Green (mixed 3 part lemon yellow, 1 part turq)

Is kite string nylon or cotton string?
@MrTieDye
@MrTieDye 3 жыл бұрын
the kite string has always been poly, I have used several brands, and I liked the Ace Hardware Brand the best until the guys in SF came up with the Tie-Dye String.... it now sells through the Dharma site which is where I found it, but you can also buy from them direct : jamminon.com/collections/tie-dye-supplies this string is my new favorite, it is a bit thinner than the others I have used, so the dye does not travel on it like much like other strings, but it does a little bit ... and just in case, here is how I use the kite string and the sinew : kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIOupYF4j6doh9E

the black is what gives it the stained glass look... but no you do not have to use it and you will still have the bright colors of the stain glass :-)

yes it is, LOL ... I apologize, sometimes I do run past that part kind of quickly .... I normally soak my tees in soda ash and spin out the excess so they are just damp, then I turn inside out and I center them by tucking one sleeve into the other sleeve and lining up the shoulder seams.... this just helps make the side to side as even as possible, here is a video to show how I do that part :kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6q7l6eJhad8itE .... also, this is helpful if you want to tie different designs on the front and the back :)
