the kite string has always been poly, I have used several brands, and I liked the Ace Hardware Brand the best until the guys in SF came up with the Tie-Dye String.... it now sells through the Dharma site which is where I found it, but you can also buy from them direct : jamminon.com/collections/tie-dye-supplies this string is my new favorite, it is a bit thinner than the others I have used, so the dye does not travel on it like much like other strings, but it does a little bit ... and just in case, here is how I use the kite string and the sinew : kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIOupYF4j6doh9E

Like "wrapping style" of Lotus Flowe Mandala (zig-zag) but different way in a "1st phase" doing of an Airplane Fold, right? 😙
@MrTieDye4 жыл бұрын
yes the zig zag is the same, but with this one I was doing a looser tie so I used kite string, but yes you can tie it with sinew also ... but the fold is a little different, with the airplane fold, many of the layers are folded in together.... with this one, I have the edges all folded separately so when you add the black dye, it is getting on all of the edges so it makes the design more even with the black dye

I have to admit I was freaking out about the black, but the end result is amazing. I have to wonder though, do you ever dye your beard by mistake? LOL
@karenbean602 жыл бұрын
I accidentally came up with the same effect by reverse tie dying a black t shirt, then tye dying it with the same fold still in it.

Awesome!! and yes I have been playing a lot with reversing and then re dyeing and having a lot of fun ✌🏻🙏🥳

For the starting point the t shit is just inside out and folded in half right? I'm not the smartest person lol but I am trying to learn and can't figure out how you started.
@MrTieDye4 жыл бұрын
yes it is, LOL ... I apologize, sometimes I do run past that part kind of quickly .... I normally soak my tees in soda ash and spin out the excess so they are just damp, then I turn inside out and I center them by tucking one sleeve into the other sleeve and lining up the shoulder seams.... this just helps make the side to side as even as possible, here is a video to show how I do that part :kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6q7l6eJhad8itE .... also, this is helpful if you want to tie different designs on the front and the back :)
