Thank you so much! 😊 I'm fine - just super busy. I've been working on some special orders and helping a family member remodel their house. There just aren't enough hours in the day! 😂 I've really missed posting - I have some new shirts completed though and I'm working on editing some new videos. I hope that you and your family have a great Thanksgiving too! 🦃

OMG, it’s great to hear your voice again. Where have you been we’ve missed you. This shirt is incredibly beautiful and I totally agree with you as far as the traveling die because of the sinew but it creates a whole new look for an incline guy which I think it’s just great that you’ve come up with a new plan for all of us out here in the tie-dye world. I hope you are going to be back Regularly and showing us your incredible art. Have a happy holiday and be well.

Thank you so much - I'm glad you like it! 😊 I really like the different look that the sinew gave to the shirt too. I'm back - life has just been so busy. I've been working on special orders and helping a family member remodel their house. I need about 10 more hours in a day! 😂 I'm working on editing videos right now though so I will have some more new ones coming soon.

Great tutorial (as always!)!!! Love this shirt - some of my favorite colors and I think the use of sinew emphasizes the narrower diagonal arcs of color in a flattering way. I will definitely try this! Thanks!!!

Thank you! That's a great description for the difference between using sinew and kite string. I think it makes the individual bands of color stand out a bit more.

Stunning! Another masterpiece. Do you ever try to make use of the dye runoff in the bottom of your plastic tub? It looked lovely too.
@FunEndeavors3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! No, I personally haven't ever used the runoff. I've heard of other tie dyers who place shirts under their racks or in their containers and use the runoff to dye other items. I've heard that works really well. However, since the runoff contains soda ash, it won't be active for very long after it runs out of the shirt you are dyeing. Therefore, it doesn't really work to wait and try to bottle the runoff to use as dye later. That's kind of a bummer though - some really cool colors are formed when all the dyes get mixed.

I really like that area that looks like iron wrought fencing, or spear tips. Which method, do you find, uses more of the powdered dye. The ice dye type you used here or making a liquid dye first then using that to dye a shirt?
@FunEndeavors3 жыл бұрын
Thank you - that's my favorite part of the shirt too! That's a really tough question. A year or two ago I weighed my dye and charted how much it used to make a shirt with ice versus liquid and I didn't find a huge difference. It kind of depends on the colors I use though. Really dark colors like Raven, Deep Space and Eggplant (the ones that require 8 teaspoons of dye to mix into liquid), I probably use a lot less dye on a shirt when I ice dye than when I liquid dye the shirt. The lighter colors that only require 2 teaspoons of dye, I probably use about the same amount when I use them to ice dye - maybe a bit more. As you know, I tend to be pretty heavy-handed with the dye when I ice dye. However, I normally don't have to add dye to the back side of the shirt. One plus of ice dyeing verses liquid dyeing is that there isn't any excess dye left. It is so hard to mix up the exact amount of dye that I need for a shirt without either mixing a little too much or needing just a little more.
@sheloveswilby3 жыл бұрын
What would this look like without the ice dye?
@FunEndeavors3 жыл бұрын
Do you mean if I liquid dyed it? If it were dyed with liquid it would look similar, but the colors would be more solid and uniform.

the colors/splits look really nice! great job Angie. btw, how long did you cut the gutter? i am about to go purchase a 10ft piece and thought about cutting it in the parking lot to three foot 4 inches as this will simply give me three equal lengths. after seeing how you tied the shirt and it fit in the gutter that made me curious how long you and other dyers i have watched cut your gutters.
@FunEndeavors3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I cut my gutters into pieces that are about 30 inches long. I also have a few longer pieces of guttering that are 60 inches long. I very rarely use the longer ones though. I think I've only used them two or three times. This is the guttering that I purchased from Lowes. www.lowes.com/pd/Amerimax-Contemporary-4-in-x-120-in-White-Half-Round-Gutter/1000246365 One piece I cut in half for the longer sections of guttering, and I bought a second one and cut it into four sections for my shorter pieces.
