Where can I get hemostats like yours with the black rubber ends? The link you have with this video does not take you to one’s like yours. Thanks!

I add the heat shrink tubing myself. I buy heat shrink tubing in the electrical department of either Lowe's or Home Depot, slide a piece of it over each side of the hemostats and then use a heat gun to shrink it to fit. If there is any excess, I trim it with a pair of scissors. There are multiple sizes of tubing and so I usually take a hemostat with me to make sure I buy the proper size.

Angie, quick question about the towel under the shirt. Is that a necessity to color adherence or is it to avoid making variations on the bottom from the grid or what? Ive made two tapestries using this method and love the results so far. Not really sure if i can reuse(after washing)my towels or if i need new ones without dye stains each time. Any advice would be appreciated 🙏 👍

I put it underneath to help and promote the dye getting pulled through to the back side. I think it is perfectly fine to use a towel that you've used before as long as it has been washed and the previous dye won't come off onto your new shirt.

I love the pattern it’s really cool I have hemostats but not that many YET😁 i use soda ash in the bottles with dye mainly to brake up the dye so it comes out of the bottles easier i seem to make a big mess with the spoons. I really appreciated your videos and thanks for sharing 😁✌️

Thank you! That's a great idea if you do dye application from the bottle. Soda ash does help the dye flow better.

Angie, I need some advice. I'm soaking my 100 percent cotton shirts in soda ash for 20 mins, spinning then using ice dye with Procon MD powder and soda ash powder. After 24 hours rinse in cold water then soak in hot water with a drop of dawn for 10 minutes. My 068 turquoise isn't really taking. In places where I had fuchsia and red I wanted it to mix into the turquoise and make shades of purple. It's not taking like I'd expect. Also, my artificial sinew isn't working. Is there a way to get it wound tighter, or is there a certain brand you recommend. Thank you 😊 💓
@FunEndeavors
@FunEndeavors 2 жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry to hear you're having problems. Turquoise is one of the Fiber Reactive colors that likes really hot temperatures for processing. Most colors will do fine at 70 degrees Fahrenheit and above, but turquoise is one prefers closer to 130 degrees. (according to Paula Burch's website) If you live in a place that is really hot outside right now, I would cover the container that your project is in and put it outside in the heat for a few hours. The summer heat is perfect for tie dye. Are you using some form of a sinew puller with your sinew? I have smaller hands and I find it easier to use a sinew puller to get a better grip on the sinew and be able to pull it tighter. Also, you can sometimes get sinew that doesn't work very well. I've purchased rolls before at local hobby shops and they didn't have enough wax and didn't work very well. Here is a link to the one that I buy from Amazon: amzn.to/2EF28Lu

@@FunEndeavors thank you for responding. It is in the upper 80s and humid here. We kept everything inside of the garage. Are there any other colors that do not fair well with ice? Thank you for the Amazon link to the sinew. Perhaps smooth needle nosed pliers wrapped in painters tape could pull it taught without damaging it. Thank you very much for the information. Your designs are beautiful.

@@WearySecret It sounds like you have it in a nice warm space. You're right though - there are colors that aren't as vibrant when they are used for ice dyeing. Hot pink has been one of those colors that I've had issues with. You can use anything for a sinew puller that will give you a good grip. I'm always surprised at the interesting items people use for sinew pullers.

I LOVE it, Angie! Again, so many hemos that might prevent me from trying it, not to mention the hot water. That's much too advanced for me. Can you achieve the design without hemos? Probably not. I saw the turtle resemblance first, then saw the 'jewels', it's both! Color combo is good too. Thanks!!!

Not sure I love the colors, but I love the shapes and the glowing effect. Like you're looking upwards at a broken Rose Window, so the color is coming through, but so is the sun where the bits of stained glass is missing.

Yeah, I can see the turtle shell image. But what came to my mind immediately was a bunch of alien jellyfish heading towards the mothership. I think I have a scifi/fantasy based thinking process. Great coloration, making it look like the center is emitting a bright light to all it's minions to show them the way home.
