Absolutely beautiful! Ice dying is my favorite technique - - the water color effect and the color splits are always a fun surprise when you rinse them out! I tend to use blues, greens and purples because they blend so well together - - I'm definitely going to try multiple shades of blue for the next project. Thanks so much for sharing your great art!!!

The shirts came out so pretty. Could you do another side by side comparison? With one shirt having the dye applied Under the ice, and the other shirt having the dye applied Over the ice?

Hii do you have any advise on reverse dying socks? ive been trying to bleach black cotton sport socks, but the colour never fully takes over the bleached spots. it always leave an orange (bleached) outline around the paint. Probably because socks are quite thick and it doesnt bleach it deep enough everywhere, but even the real dark colour dont fully apply. I really would love to make this work so if you or anyone else could share some experiences then please

Hi! Socks are a little tricky. Mainly because most socks aren't 100% cotton or another natural fiber. They have something stretchy added (like elastic) so that they will stay up. Therefore, the elastic or spandex in the socks doesn't dye. A lot of socks aren't actually cotton at all - they are polyester which doesn't work with the kind of dye that I use (Procion MX Fiber Reactive dyes). You might check the fabric content of the socks you are trying to dye and then make sure the dyes you are using will work with that kind of fabric.

No, soda ash is sodium bicarbonate. Soda ash is sodium carbonate and it is necessary to raise the pH and permanently bond the Procion MX Fiber Reactive dye to the fabric.

The other day I was watching more td videos and one of the videos had somebody using a tool to make their spirals on the shirt better and easier. I can't find the video or remember the name of the tool. Does anybody know what video I'm talking about or what the tool is called or wr to find such a thing??
